AMAZON REVIEWER GIVES THE PEREGRINE VOL. 3 FIVE STARS!

Big Thanks to Funtony47 for his 5 Star Amazon Review of The Peregrine Omnibus Vol. 3 from Pro Se Productions. Many thanks, Tony. We're glad you enjoyed it. The Peregrine Omnibus Vol. 3 features a story by me called "Where there's smoke..." You can see it below or read the full review here.

This 3rd volume of tales of the Peregrine is different. Here we get many different authors giving their take on the character. I actually loved this as it brought different insight into the character as other authors explored him. The different styles was interesting as well and gave me a chance to see new authors. It is alo worth noting that so many authors felt the desire to pay homage to this character of new pulp and helps cement Reese's star firmly into the constellation of new pulp's history !

Thanks again for taking the time to leave a review. Reviews are always appreciated.

THIS MONTH'S PATREON FREE ART GIVEAWAY REVEALED!

Here it is without any
computer touch ups.
Each month, I draw a winner for a free piece if art by me. May's winner was author Darrell Grizzle, who requested a shot of himself in a horror setting, possibly with a giant spider or cemetery feel that he could use on his upcoming Facebook Author Page. Likenesses aren't my strongest suit, but I think I captured Darrell fairly well. I hope you enjoy, sir and I apologize for the delay in getting it to you. I've been fighting deadlines and you know how pesky those little buggars can get.

The June drawing will happen next week and there's still plenty of time for you to get in on the running to win. All you have to do is pledge $5 or more a month at www.patreon.com/BobbyNash and you're in the running. You'll also receive at least one free ebook a month, sometimes more. The support of my Patrons helps me continue to write full time so I can produce more books.

Thanks again, Darrell.

NO WRITER IS AN ISLAND...

I would love to write on the beach.
No Writer is an island. I joined Sean Taylor's Good Girls, Bad Guys, and Two-Fisted Action Blog to talk about the mentors and influencers that helped shape me into the neurotic mess of a writer I am today. Read the full blog with my and other authors responses here.

Every writer can look back to someone who either inspired him or her to start or to stick with it. With Mother's Day all around us, and folks still in a mood to express thanks to those someones who helped make us who we are, let's keep it going this week by honoring those folks who inspired us to write and to write better.

A big thank you to all those who pushed, encouraged, supported, and kicked me int he ass when I needed it.

TODAY'S OFFICE... FRIDAY SNOW DRIVE EDITION!

Today's office...
Another beautiful day here in sunny GA. Working toward the finish line on Snow Drive for BEN Books in the outdoor office. #amwriting

I 'm such a teaser!
What's that? You want a Snow Drive sneak peek. Okay. How's this?
#AintIAStinker?

I love working in my outdoor office. It's nice to get out of the house and enjoy some fresh air and the peace and quiet isn't bad either. At least until someone starts cutting the grass.

Happy Friday!

CELEBRATING 40 YEARS IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY...

I did not see Star Wars on it's opening weekend, but we did see it at the old 85 drive in just outside Atlanta. It was a full day. They had a flea market at the drive in during the day and I got some comic books (I also became an Avengers fan that day too. The comic I got was Marvel Super Action #22, which reprinted The Avengers # 61), we had dinner, then came back for a double feature of The Jungle Book followed by Star Wars. It was a magical day that changed my life. 40 years later, Star Wars is still a part of my fandom and I eagerly await the new movie.

May The Force Be With You. Always.

Bobby

1977 was a big year for 6 year old me.
UPDATED: MY TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE--
It amazes me that on the day I saw Star Wars and The Jungle Book for the first time was the same day I also became an Avengers fan. At the flea market at the drive in before the movies, my parents bought me a comic book. The comic I got was Marvel Super Action #22, which reprinted The Avengers # 61 that featured The Avengers (Hawkeye, Black Panther, The Vision, The Black Knight, and guest star: Doctor Strange) battling Ymir and Surtur (who I would later discover to be Thor villains) in a story with the cool title "Some Say the World Will End in Fire... Some Say In Ice!" by the stellar creative team of Roy Thomas (writer), John Buscema (pencils), and George Klein (inks). I was enthralled by this group and would have loved to see this team together more.

TODAY'S OFFICE... HEY! WHO'S THE REAL VILLAIN HERE? (UPDATED)

Today's office... start of the writing day.
I'm enjoying another beautiful spring day here in sunny Georgia. Have to get in the outdoor office writing time in while I can. It's much to hot and humid to sit out here all day during the summer. Today, I'm seeing how Abraham Snow is going to get himself out of this jam I've put him in. Am I the villain here? :)  #amwriting

Today's office... time to pack it up and head indoors.
I've reached that point in the evening where I can no longer work outside. The sun hits at just the right angle to make it hard to see the laptop clearly. Even the shade doesn't help. A good day of writing so far.still a bit more to do, but now it's break time. #amwriting

TODAY'S RAINY OFFICE...

This is how I keep all the characters straight.

Art: Dennis Calero
Design/Colors:
Bobby Nash
Enjoying the rain as I write in the outside office today. No wind so laptop won't get wet. Working on Snow Drive. Snow's car was just run off the road by some bad guys. #amwriting
The photo also shows notes, which is one of the questions I get asked a lot. I put notes and characters below what I'm writing, same file. That helps me keep everything at close hand.
It's a system that works for me.

I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN SORTA KINDA COMES TOGETHER...

>>DING!<<
One of the great joys of writing is when things fall into place organically. I wrote some dialogue in Snow Drive last night, character stuff mostly, but also moves the plot along. This morning, as I played the scene again in my mind while I was out running errands and that dialogue sparked a plot for a future Snow story. I love it when the characters make that happen.

I even hit upon a title for that story-- SNOW JACKED! Now, like any good plan, this may or may not survive intact after contact with the enemy (that's usually me sitting down to write), but I now have 2 Snow stories in print (SNOW FALLS, SNOW STORM), 1 being written now (SNOW DRIVE), and 4 others pretty loosely plotted
Now where did I put
all those ideas?
(SNOWED IN, SNOW BIZ, SNOW JACKED, an as yet untitled entry, and the finale to Snow Vol. 1 SNOW'S BOUNTY).  That gives Vol. 1 a full 8 stories in individual ebooks and paperback digests. There is a plan to collect them in groups of 4 for trades (Vol. 1 part 1 and Vol. 1 part 2) and as an omnibus (Vol. 1) in paperback and maybe... maybe in hardcover if I can swing it.

Of course, before all that happens, I have to finish SNOW DRIVE so it cam come out June 1 as planned. Guess I'd better get back to work.

Stay Snowy!

TODAY'S OFFICE... AND A NIGHTVEIL TEASE...

Today's office. Before the temps get too high, I'm back in my outdoor office to get some writing done. On the screen at the moment is page one of my Nightveil digest novel for Pro See Productions. Will also do some work on Snow Drive for BEN Books today too.

Can't spoil much, but here's the first line of Nightveil. This is a first draft so it is definitely subject to revision.

Chaos reigned at the edge of creation.

SOMETIMES I GET ASKED STUFF… PART 40!

And we're back for the 40th installment of Sometimes I Get Asked Stuff… That's right! It's the BIG 4-0! I know I’ve said it before, but thank you for the questions. I love answering them so please, keep ‘em coming. Oh, and a Big Ol' Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there, including mine.

You can check out all of the past installments of Sometimes I Get Asked Stuff... here.

Q: What literary pilgrimages have you gone on?

Sadly, none. Unless trips to conventions count. Maybe I should look into taking a trip like that. Could be fun.

Q: What is the first book that made you cry?

To Kill A Mockingbird, I think. Although, I will admit, the movie gets me more than the book.

Q: What is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry?

There are publishers out there who will try to take advantage of authors and ask for fees from the author. That is not how publishing works. The money should flow from the publisher to the author, not the other way around. Same with agents. Money is made when books sell. That goes for writers, publishers, and agents. http://pred-ed.com is a good resource for looking into publishers, agents, etc. They are currently revising their information, but it will give you an idea of praises and complaints against publishers.

TAKING A MOTHER'S DAY SNOW DRIVE!

Abraham Snow hated being lied to.
I'm enjoying the nice weather with some outside writing today on this wonderful Mother's Day. I'm working on the next book in the Snow series called SNOW DRIVE. In this installment, Snow and Big John are trying to figure out who is sabotaging the Chambers Racing Team. It's mystery, action, and horse power when Snow goes to the races. Don't worry, Archer Snow, a fan favorite, is there as well. We also get some father/son time as Dominic and Abraham are forced to work together. Oh, and Daniella Cordoza puts a bounty on Snow's head. You won't want to miss it.
Snow Drive is scheduled to arrive June 2017.

WHAT MAKES A NOVEL'S BACK COVER TALK TO YOU?

Deadly Games! back cover
What sells books? Covers? Yes. Big advertising budgets? Well, most likely you don't have access to that. What sells you a book in a bookstore or online when a cover has already caught your attention? That's right... The back cover blurb

I join Sean Taylor and an exciting line up of authors to tackle the question of what makes for good blurbs and back cover copy at the Bad Girls, Good Guys, and Two-Fisted Action blog. Read the full story here.

What do you like to see on the back cover of a novel? What gets you to pick up a book and try it?

ALEXANDRA HOLZER'S GHOST GAL: THE WILD HUNT GOES ON TEMPORARY HIATUS!

Cover art: Jamie Chase
Change is coming!

It is with a heavy heart that Alexandra Holzer and I announce that the novel, Alexandra Holzer's Ghost Gal: The Wild Hunt written by Bobby Nash is going out of print effective immediately.

At least until it can rise again.

See what I did there? Yeah. I know. It was corny. Moving on.

Alex and I are both committed to the character and hope to have news about Ghost Gal's return very soon. This is simply the first step toward making it happen after our original publisher, Raven's Head Press' Michael Hudson passed away. Michael got the Ghost Gal ball rolling for us. Now, Alex and I will keep it rolling.

Stay tuned here for news as soon as we have some to share.

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2017 - THE WRAP UP!

On Saturday, May 6, 2017, I joined an impressive group of comic creators like Francesco Francavilla, Julie Barclay, Shane Berryhill, Drew Geraci, Joe Pruett, Jorge Santiago Jr., and Marcel Vann for Free Comic Book Day at Dr. No's Comics and Games Superstore in Marietta, GA. Creators began signing around noon until 2 p.m., although several stayed much later.

Free Comic Book Day is one of my favorite events of the year. Not only do publishers create special content for the day, but the local comic book stores really go all out to make it a fun-filled event for comic fans. FCBD events have almost becoming mini conventions in their own right.

As usual, I was doing free sketches for the kids and the kids at heart. I love drawing, but it's not something I get to do often. Below are photos and sketches from the event. A big thank you to all who came out to say hello and to Cliff Biggers and the staff at Dr. No's for putting on such an amazing event and taking good care of us. I had hoped to get all of the creators together for a group photo, but we were all so busy there wasn't time.

What is Free Comic Book Day, you ask? Find out here.

OPEN WRITING PROJECTS UPDATED!

I updated the ol' Open Writing Projects whiteboard this morning. That's the old one on the left and the new one on the right. As you can see, it's still pretty full. Even as I type this, I realize I forgot a project so I have to go add that now. The titles are blurred on purpose. Sorry, but some of these have not been announced yet.

I can give you a bit of a peek behind the secrecy. There are a couple of SNOW titles on the list. Already announced novels, Lance Star: Sky Ranger, Evil Intent, Nightveil, Deadly Deals!, and Blood Shot are on the list as well.

Evil Ways & Deadly Games! Sheriff Tom Myers is getting a stand-alone novella as well. If all goes well, it might go to series. This is a character near and dear to me and keeps reminding me he wants his own story. I plan to make that happen this year.

There's also a 4 novella series coming as well. More on that later.

The rest, well, let's just say I'm going to be busy. Heh.

Happy Reading!

EARTHSTRIKE AGENDA NETS NEW 5 STAR AMAZON READER REVIEW!

A Big Thank You to Tom McNulty for leaving a 5 star review for my novel, Earthstrike Agenda on Amazon. It is greatly appreciated and I'm glad you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. It was a lot of fun! I'm overdue another trip to outer space. It's been too long.

Excellent Sci-Fi Adventure!
I find it immeasurably enjoyable to read a science fiction novel where it’s obvious the author was having fun. Too many authors take themselves and their work so seriously, that the entertainment value is muted by their pomposity. Fortunately, that’s not the case with Bobby Nash. Here’s an author that jumps right into the tale with a gee-whiz attitude and spins an exciting Space Opera with all of the galactic world-building you could ask for. Earthstrike Agenda is New Pulp Fiction at its best, professionally written, thrilling and satisfying. The various elements of the tale will be instantly recognizable to readers, including a dash of Star Trek, Star Wars and Flash Gordon, all while weaving an original story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Nash creates a fantastic protagonist with starship captain Virginia Harmon who takes command of the ship, Pegasus, just as earth is about to face a threat from deep space. Nash creates a vibrant supporting cast, and devotes large chunks of multiple chapters to them. With so many players, I admired Nash’s ability to not only keep track of them, but to make them relevant. Earthstrike Agenda is decidedly Old School adventure writing, and I mean that in a positive way. The drama unfolds at an easy pace, builds momentum, and before you know it you’re racing along with Virginia Harmon, Dr. James Silver, Ensign Bailey and others as the fate of earth hangs in the balance. An expertly constructed Space Opera like Earthstrike Agenda shouldn’t be missed by any Sci-Fi fan. Highly recommended.

Thanks again, Tom. Reviews like this help push the novels in front of new readers and I appreciate you taking the time to write one. It means a lot.

Bobby
