A new chapter of "In The Wind" is now available.

The Manhunt Continues! Missing federal witness, Bates Hewell has escaped capture and fled into undeveloped Sommersville County. Hot on his trail is Sheriff Tom Myers and his deputies. We're only a couple of chapters away from the final showdown of my serialized novella, "In The Wind." This all-new Sheriff Tom Myers crime thriller is now live at www.patreon.com/bobbynash . Subscribe today and get in on the action.

A federal witness on the run. Sheriff Tom Myers heads deep into Undeveloped Sommersville in hopes of finding him before the bad guys do. Sommersville Sheriff Tom Myers stars in an all-new serialized action/thriller at www.patreon.com/bobbynash

Join the manhunt in the new Patreon-exclusive BEN Books novella, "In The Wind" starring Sheriff Tom Myers and his deputies (as seen in Evil Ways and Deadly Games!), FBI Agent Tom McClellan (as seen in the Snow series), and U.S. Federal Marshal William Teague (who will also appear in the upcoming Evil Intent novel).

The opening chapter of "In The Wind" is FREE to read. Other chapters, like this one, are available only to patrons until it is completed and released by BEN Books in 2020. If you have friends that might enjoy this story, please share chapter 0 with them and invite them to subscribe. You can find Chapter 0 here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/31353775 Please tell your friends.

Just a head's up! IN THE WIND is an adult suspense/thriller. There will be some murder, death, mayhem, and terror taking place in this story. There may even be some cussing and sex too. Please be aware of that going in. If it were a movie, I suspect it would have an R rating, maybe PG-13. You've been warned.

SATURDAY...

I was not as productive today as I had hoped. The news from here in Atlanta of riots and protests drew much of my #focus away from writing the past two days. I wish I had the right words to put into perspective the sad state of affairs my country, our world, finds itself in these days, but nothing I try to write about it seems adequate to describe the anger, hurt, and frustration. A sad statement from a guy who is supposed to make a living with words, huh? Change needs to happen. People are dying out there. It's unacceptable. I just wish I had the words.

Much love to you all. Time to call it a night.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

THREE QUESTIONS... AN INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR BOBBY NASH!

I was interviewed by Barbara Barth for The Magic of Three: Three Questions with Author Bobby Nash.
The questions are posted on the Magical Muse Moments Create, Paint, Write Facebook page HERE.

Welcome Bobby Nash to our Three Question Interview on Magical Muse Moments Create, Paint, Write. Well-loved in the writing community, Bobby was fun to interview. Link below to read his answers, find his website, and sign up for his free e-mail newsletter. Thanks, Bobby for joining us today! Magical Muse Moments is hosted by the Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts and Walton Writers.

Today meet author Bobby Nash on our Magic of Three, Three Question Interview. Bobby is well known in the writing community, but I wanted to ask a few questions to share here. At the end of our mini-interview you'll find links to his web and sales sites. You can also sign up for his free newsletter.

1. Tell us about your genre.

I have been fortunate to be able to write in multiple genres for different publishers. It is fun to spend time writing sci-fi, super-heroes, pulp, and the like, but the genre I tend to visit most often is the crime thriller genre. I have fun planning the crimes and catching the bad guys. Plus, the beauty of a thriller is that it can pair with almost any other genre ala sci-fi/thriller, mystery/thriller, well, you get the idea.

2. When did you start writing?

I first caught the writing bug in high school back in the late 1980’s. I started writing comic book stories that I could draw then eventually started writing stories for other friends to draw. Eventually, I found work writing comics professionally in 2000, which was fun. Then, one day, I decided to write a novel. I did and, although not the greatest work, it was finished. I later did a massive rewrite on that story, but before I did that, I wrote another novel that came out much better. After about six years of shopping it around, I finally sold my first novel, Evil Ways, in 2004 and it premiered in 2005. I’ve been busy ever since.

3.What inspires you?

I’m inspired by everything. I find story/character ideas everywhere I look. I am also inspired by other creative people. Talking with another creator is a great way to get my creative juices flowing. I am also inspired by deadlines. Yeah. Those are important too.

Thanks for joining us today, Bobby. And thanks for all you do to reach out to the writing community.

Thank you, Barbara. This was fun.

WRITING...

Writing. Today has been my first day back in the office where I actually wrote something. The past couple of days I have popped in to do a little bit of admin work that needed attention, but wasn't feeling up to writing. Not sure how much I will get done, but it is nice to have the words flowing again. I'm finishing up the next chapter of my Patreon serialized crime novella, "In The Wind" which should go live tonight or tomorrow once I give it a polish.

After a lengthy recovery he heads to his grandfather’s home to rest and decide what to do with his life. Instead of a little rest he becomes involved in a dangerous situation thanks to his family business. Relying on instinct and training he proves to himself and others that he still has what it takes to get the bad guys."

MY STAR WARS STORY...

I'm feeling contemplative today so please bear with me as I share my Star Wars story for May 4th. A few who know me may have heard this before, but I have a vivid memory of the first time I saw Star Wars (before "A New Hope" was added to the title). In fact, I have a vivid memory of the entire day. It was a Saturday (no. I don't recall the exact date) and the 85 Drive In (right next to where Spaghetti Junction is now for those of you who live in Atlanta) was showing a double feature for the kids and families. First off, The Jungle Book with Star Wars following. My parents have never been big on going to the movies so this was a rare treat for me and a big deal. We made a day of it.
The drive in housed a flea market during the day and we went to that. I bought a copy of Marvel Super Action #22, which reprinted a story featuring characters I was not familiar with... The Avengers (Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, Vision, Black Panther, and Black Knight - a peek into the MCU decades to come). After that, we had lunch then came back for the double feature. I had seen The Jungle book before on TV and it was a fun movie to watch, but like so many of the other kids, I watched it from the swing sets.

When Star Wars started, we were back in my parent's van to watch the movie. From the opening crawl, I was hooked. I already liked Star Trek, which aired after school in reruns and The Six Million Dollar Man was a favorite as well. As soon as the fanfare started and the crawl began scrolling by and then that big star destroyer did its flyby, I was a sci-fi fan. I devoured anything Star Wars I could find, getting some action figures and play sets and the treasury edition of the Marvel Comic to name a few. I was hooked. Now, all these 40 years later, I still get a chill when I hear that 20th Century Fox fanfare (which is a thing of the past now) and would always be disappointed if the fanfare was not immediately followed by the words "A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away..."

I took this photo
In the intervening years, my love for this universe has never wavered. There have been things I like better than others, but Star Wars has remained an important part of my life. I have friends who are Star Wars cosplayers and fan-film creators (I even got to appear in one of them, which was a ton of fun). I have met actors, writers, artists, and directors who have crafted these amazing adventures. I have a great memory of seeing an X-Wing as a small child on a trailer in a parking lot and my mom taking a Polaroid of me standing next to it. I wish I knew where that photo was these days. Sadly, I fear it is lost to time. The first autograph I got at a convention was from Darth Vader himself, David Prowse. He was a rather surly man, but Vader had been a long-time favorite character of mine and meeting the man inside the suit was special. I have bumped into Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Anthony Daniels at cons. I also had a short, but wonderful conversation with Irvin Kershner, who not only directed my favorite star Wars movie, The Empire Strikes Back, but also the pilot episode of seaQuest DSV, which was a show I adored.

My brother, Wes and I shared a love of Star Wars. We often watched the movies and shows together and have great discussions about them. One of my regrets is that he did not get to see the end of The Clone Wars before he passed away. He was a fan. I plan to finish up the season very soon, but it won't be the same without him.

Thanks for letting me ramble. I remain excited for the future of Star Wars. Whatever happens next, I'll be ready for a return visit to a Galaxy Far, Far Away...

Rest in Peace, Wes Nash...

This is one of those posts that I never thought I would have to make. It is also one of the hardest to write. My brother, Wes Nash passed away tonight at the far too young age of 40. That's him on the left and my dad on the right in the photo. Wes suffered a series of strokes and on Monday, fell asleep and never woke up. He passed tonight at 8:30 pm after being taken off the ventilator at 5:30 pm. My Dad and I are wrecks, as you can imagine.

There will be limited visitation at Smith's Funeral Home in Winder, GA on Monday, May 4th. I do not know times yet, but I do know they will limit the number of people allowed inside due to COVID-19 restrictions. Afterward, he will be cremated and laid to rest in a private ceremony later in the week.

I appreciate everyone's condolences in advance. I promise I will read them all, but will probably not be able to respond to all. Thanks for understanding.

UPDATE: My brother's obituary and visitation information. Since we're only doing a limited visitation of only 2 hours, in lieu of flowers, please send money or donate to a charity in Wes' name.
