BLAST FROM THE PAST PART DUEX!

This has been a nice jaunt down memory lane. Jeff Austin shared pages 4 and 5 of our Marvel horror pitch many moons ago. Peter Parker took the wrong train home. It dropped him in The Twilight Zone, it seems. I can't find the script, but we had Peter Parker and his spidery alter ego meet Digger from Marvel's Tower of Shadows horror comic. Digger sends the wall-crawler on a deadly mission. Page 4 is one of my favorite pages Jeff has done.

Another story that writer Bobby Nash and I collaborated on. This was a pitch to Marvel. Nothing came of it, but the art remains. It's basically an horror-action story starring Peter Parker. Page 1 starts with a flashback that sets up the story to come....

Page 3 of the same story. Wasn't happy with page two, so you don't get to see it. This page, I tried to catch a dreamlike, Twilight Zoney feeling. The top background was a photo I inked in an offbeat way to enhance the mood.

EVIL INTENT AND WRITERLY THOUGHTS...

It's been a long day. Hit the road with my dad today. We had a nice ride and the weather was quite lovely, although a touch chilly at times. Still, we had a fun day. I enjoy our road trips.

After I got back home, I actually managed to get in a little writing. If all goes well, I'll get a new chapter of Evil Intent posted tonight on Patreon. (that's www.patreon.com/bobbynash for anyone interested in supporting a poor, indie author and enjoying some serialized storytelling).

Speaking of Evil Intent, It's funny, I wrote most of Evil Intent shortly after 9/11, before Evil Ways even came out. There's a lot of the feelings of the time in there, but some of the motivations and feelings of the villain, a homegrown domestic terrorist, seem less plausible when read in today's context, which is a scary realization. I've been tweaking and in many cases outright rewriting Donnie Lehmann's motivations. I'm also starting to wonder if I should change Donnie's first name so readers don't assume I'm basing it on any one particular person, which I am not. I came up with the villain's name in 2001. #WriterProblems huh?

Oh well, back to work. Or dinner. One of those things needs to happen soon. :)

A New Day...

Starting off the day with nice comments from the editor of the story you turned in is a great way to start the day. It's always nice to wake up and smile. Writing is such a solitary profession. The majority of my time is spent alone in a small office, just me and my characters. I can't speak for other writers, but I often fear that every story I turn in to an editor or publisher will be hated. I try not to think like that, but it happens with every story I send so getting positive feedback is appreciated.

Yesterday was rough. I managed not to do any work after getting home from my dad's doctor appointment and errands we had to run. We walked into a terrorist siege playing out on the TV, which killed any desire to write about fictional crimes while real life ones were playing out in vivid color on the TV.

But that was yesterday. 

In an effort not to let those who want to disrupt our lives win, I'm back in the writing office today. There's words that need slinging and I am warmed up and ready. I'll try to stay positive when I send this story off for edits.

A Dark Day...

I've been struggling all day to find the right words to describe the wellspring of emotions that have ripped through me as I watch this country I love being torn apart at the seams by so called Patriots being egged on by a president who doesn't seem to understand what it means to be presidential. It's a disgrace and I am ashamed that this could happen in my beloved USA. We have to be better. We have to do better.

I'm not one to talk politics on social media often. I prefer to get on here and talk with everyone and hawk my books and events. I'm not posting this to incite debate so please bear that in mind before you decide to comment. If you feel the need to argue or defend their terrorist actions, do that on your own page. I'm really in no mood for it and will not tolerate it.
