I'm thrilled to announce that my story was accepted for the Kolchak The Night Stalker 50th Anniversary prose anthology that will be out soon. I'm excited to be part of this project. Kolchak is a fantastic character. The story I wrote takes place during Kolchak's time as a war correspondent during the Vietnam War. In typical Kolchak fashion, while covering the horrors of war finds himself in the midst of some weird goings on. Fun stuff.

There's nothing like that feeling of finishing a story and sending it off to the publisher for editing. I wrote almost 5,000 words today and then spent some time polishing. Will share more details when I can.

Writing Update...

I had a couple of good days in the writing office. Yesterday, I finished a Sky Rangers story for Pulp Reality #4. Tonight, I added a few thousand words to Dante's Showdown. Nearing the finish line on that one. Soon. Time to call it a night. Tired writer is tired.

A DANTE'S SHOWDOWN TEASE...

I love it when characters I'm writing get into a grove. This is a bit from my current WIP, Dante's Showdown, the follow up to Dante's Tenth, which appeared in Valhalla Books' The Devil's Due anthology (still on sale HERE). The characters took this into a direction I hadn't completely planned, but really works. I love it when that happens.

He raised an eyebrow. “Reporter, eh? An interesting profession, especially for such a young lady out here in the wilds. How did you get into that line of work?”

“Turns out I knew all the words,” she joked, blushing in spite of herself.

“No mean feat,” he countered.

“Sometimes I even put them in the right order.”

“Ah. That explains it then.” He chuckled. “Heath Moore. New in town. No job yet and I only get my words in the right order maybe half the time.”

TODAY'S WIP!

I had a pretty decent day in the writing office today.

Just finished up a night session. Here's a tease from tonight's WIP:

“Cole Martin was a farmer. He had a small spread north of town. When his crops failed two summers in a row, he went to work in the mines.”

“Then why is it strange seeing him here? Maybe he was working this mine?”

“No.”

“How can you be so certain?”

“Because the last time I saw Cole Martin was at his funeral,” Miss Perth said matter of fact. “Seems a bit strange seeing him walking around again.”

Time for this tired writer to call it a night. Sweet dreams.

I ran across this in an old file today. I did these sketch cards for a charity auction back in 2010. Seems like a lifetime ago. I'd forgotten about them until I saw them so it was a nice trip down memory lane. I wonder how they did in the auction? Anyway, I thought you might enjoy seeing the process from pencil to ink to color.
