NEW YEAR'S EVE!

Howdy, folks. I hope you're looking forward to the new year. In my world, it's not a huge deal. We don't really get out and do anything so it feels like a normal night, save for all the fireworks and gunshots the neighbors will launch into a little later.

Bye old chair. Hello, new.
I splurged and bought myself a new office chair (Staples on-line had a 50% off sale on Black Friday), a little Christmas present to myself. The old wooden chair served its purpose, but a softer chair was long overdue. I finally put it together today. Time to break in the new one.

I don't do resolutions. Never really got into the practice. I have started making writing/publishing plans for 2024 and I started the new Open Projects file I keep on my desktop. I finished 31 writing projects of various sizes and stripes in 2023. Let's see what we can do in the new one.

I hope you have a great New Year!

Be safe out there.

2023 - MY PUBLISHING YEAR IN REVIEW (OR, NO WONDER I'M SO TIRED)!

I've noticed several of my writer friends doing this so I thought I'd give it a go too. Honestly, I knew that 2021, 2022, and 2023 were some of my busier years as a writer. Not everything I wrote during that period has released yet, but here's a look at what did release in 2023. I was surprised by the number myself. No wonder I'm tired. :)

5 novels/novellas (1 is a re-issue).
3 essays
8 comic books/graphic novels
8 short stories
1 screenplay produced
1 audio drama produced
1 movie role released

On the writing side, I slung a lot of words this year, finishing a total of 31 stories this year of various shapes, sizes, and mediums. Plus, there are some in process, but not finished. I didn't count those yet.

All in all, I'm thrilled with this year's output and workload. And we're not done yet. There are several finished projects at various stages in the pipeline. Look for more new releases in 2024.

As always, I appreciate the support, encouragement, and friendship. Thanks for taking this ride with me. Onward and upward. Bring on 2024!

Happy New Year!

Jeff Austin has a page from the Page from Domino Lady vs the Mummy one shot I co-wrote with Nancy Holder a few years back for Moonstone Books on sale. Penciled by Rock Baker. That first panel is one of my favorite shots of our pulpy heroine.

GALLOPING AROUND THE COSMOS WITH A 5 STAR REVIEW!

Big thanks to Kevin Palm for his kind words and 5 star Amazon review of Becky Books' Galloping Around The Cosmos: Memories of TV's Wagon Train to the Stars from Today's Grown-Up Kids. You can read the full review HERE or below.

"I can definitely relate! This is a book that REALLY captures the feeling of discovering "Star Trek" for the first time! For me, it was glancing at the TV as I was hustled off to bed and seeing the Enterprise limping through the sky ("Tomorrow is Yesterday"), and my 5 year old self was intrigued! I don't remember watching the series as a whole until it was syndicated, but that image sticks with me to this day! That feeling is what Jim Beard has captured with this book, and just maybe it'll reawaken that same feeling in you!"

Have you gone galloping around the cosmos yet?

COOKIN' UP A TROUBLE IN MOB LAND!

If you've ever wondered what I'd look like in an apron and slaving over a hot grill, here's your chance. I played a fry cook in Mob Land, which is now playing on Hulu. I finally got the chance to watch. It's a pretty good indie crime thriller. I'm in it for a good 2 minutes, working up a sweat (some real, some fake). I got to meet the movie's villain, Stephen Dorff. Cool guy. Also, a brave man, he actually ate one of the burgers I cooked in the scene. They filmed this one in the small town I live in so there's lots of familiar landmarks. Sadly, I didn't get to meet John Travolta. He wrapped the day before I worked.

Enjoy the movie.
