GOODREADS GIVES THRILLING ADVENTURE YARNS 5 STARS!

We Love Reader Reviews! Big thanks to Sean Lee Levin for his kind words and 5 star GoodReads review of Crazy 8 Press' Thrilling Adventure Yarns 2025. You can read it HERE or below.

"This is the first book in this series that I have read. It will not be the last! A very enjoyable collection of stories by diverse authors (some of whom I'm quite familiar with, while others are new to me), arranged by genre. The illustrations chosen to accompany each story are a nice touch. I am very glad I backed the Kickstarter for this anthology. Money well spent!"

Thanks again, Sean!

“Holy crap, was that really a giant armadillo?” A Thrilling Adventure Yarn 2025 Review!

We Love Reader Reviews! Big thanks to Bob Saunders for his kind words and 5 star Amazon review of Crazy 8 Press' Thrilling Adventure Yarns 2025. Read it HERE or below.

"Why read a story when you can read a yarn?  All yarns are stories, but not all stories get to be yarns. To be a yarn, a story has to be both entertaining and imaginative. Reading a yarn is leaving your credulity at the door and entering a dimension of “not only of sight and sound, but of mind...” (thank you Rod Serling, and yes, the best of those old “Twilight Zone” episodes were magnificent yarns).
Yarns are fast paced, exciting, and tightly written. This last qualification alone eliminates most fiction writing today. Ever read a bloated, fat fantasy novel? If so, my condolences. This book, “Thrilling Adventure Yarns 2025,” will be a good palette cleanser.

Edited by Robert Greenberger, this book has 15 yarns that hearken back to the glorious pulp days of yore (albeit with a contemporary flavor). You will find tales of the occult, crime, fantasy, science fiction – and some best categorized as “Holy crap, was that really a giant armadillo?”

I burned through all 15 tales. Some are better than others, but they're all good. Now, I'm checking out the rest in the series. I recommend you do, too – unless, of course, you're stuck in the middle of that 600-page “romantasy.” If that's the case, I know a dark sorcerer or two who can help."

Thanks again, Bob! I'm glad you dug the giant armadillo. :)

"A great high octane book! Snow is trying to find the guy who shot him and put him in retirement. His ex partner, who is now a PI, is in town to talk to him but has a small job he is on that goes bad. Snow, along with friends and family, jump in to help find a college student who is kidnapped and to see if they can settle a decades old grudge. All the characters are well developed, which is usual in a Nash written book. It's just a fun, high octane tale.Highly recommended, really need to read the rest of the Snow books."

THE PATREON SERIALIZED NOVELLA "SNOW ISLAND" CONTINUES WITH AN ALL-NEW CHAPTER!

Abraham Snow comes face to face with his captor. What happened during Snow's undercover days led to his abduction? Find out in an all-new chapter of Snow Island, the serialized novella adventure by Bobby Nash available now. New chapters of Snow Island release weekly-ish on PATREON.

Read the opening chapter free RIGHT HERE with subsequent weekly-ish chapters for paid members. Go read the opening chapter FREE today then join us for as low as $1 a month and that includes the serialized stories. A Secret Agent X serialized novella will also begin soon. I hope you'll join us on Patreon. It helps me a lot. Thank you.

An idea about offering serialized chapters for sale piecemeal was floated. Anyone interested in just paying to read serialized novel posts? Let me know your thoughts. $1 a month would be a cheaper option.

In SNOW ISLAND, Snow heads to Hawaii with Archer in tow for a visit with Samson Brooks (former Mother agent) and his brother, Walker Brooks (former CIA), who are now working together as p.i./fugitive recovery consultants. Snow gets caught up in their latest case as another enemy searches for him. Might there be sharks involved? Maybe.

I've often said that Snow is my love letter to old p.i./detective shows of the 70's and 80's. Snow island gives us a two-fer. First, a trip to Hawaii, a staple of 70's and 80's fare. Also, this one could conceivably be considered a backdoor pilot. If the Brooks Brothers are well received, who knows, perhaps they'll get their own book. Not unusual for Bobby Nash and BEN Books. Stay tuned.

WE LOVE THRILLING ADVENTURE READER REVIEWS!

We Love Reader Reviews! Big thanks to Bill Wormstedt for his kind words and 5 star Amazon review of Crazy 8 Press' Thrilling Adventure Yarns 2025. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DVBYZ1YC

"Thrilling Adventure Yarns 2025 is very pulpy – in a good way!  This is the first volume of this series that I have bought, and I thought it was a lot of fun!

I’m not in the habit of reading anthologies of short stories, for no good reason, so this was a change for me.

The book contains 15 stories, and are broken up into a number of categories: Crime, occult, super(hero), sword and sorcery, science fiction, and fantasy, with several stories in each group. But these categories are kinda loose – and one or two lean into horror, which is fine with me.

The entire book has a pulp magazine feel, and is even formatted in some ways like an old pulp magazine, up to and including the ‘artificially’ worn cover! Each story is led by an illustration pulled from an old pulp mag, the illo kind of related to the story. Art on these is not credited, nor the direct pulp magazine source.

Several stories in the book appear to be related to other, non-printed here, stories. “Doc Dresden and the Lost Hollow” refers to a previous history to the character, and I don’t know where to find these other stories. Or even if they exist. “She-Devil of Paris”, using the pre-existing character of Irma Vep, ends with an open storyline and cries for a sequel.

As said above, the book is broken into a number of categories, and it orders the stories by them. We get the 3 crime stories followed by the 3 occult stories, followed by ….. you get the idea. Still you are getting a variety of stories, by 15 different writers and writing styles, and I enjoyed that variety very much. I read certain kinds of stories that I normally wouldn’t bother with (I am much more of a science fiction guy and not a fantasy guy, for example), but that was okay.

Every story was enjoyable, though some more than others, but that's to be expected. Did I enjoy the book as a whole? Yes. Am I thinking about buying the earlier books in the series for more of the same? Yes!"

Thanks again, Bill! Doc Dresden is a reboot of an old character I wrote years ago that very few folks actually saw so he's pretty much a new character in this incarnation. The previous adventures mentioned in my story are there to let you know he's been at this game a while. I hope to do more with this new version of the character. Doc Dresden was one of the first characters I created some nearly 40 years ago. Yikes.

FREE READ! LANCE STAR AND THE SKY PIRATES CHAPTER 4 (OF 12)!

A new chapter of the free Lance Star: Sky Ranger story, Lance Star and the Sky Pirates is now live. Read it FREE here.

Lance Star and the Sky Pirates.

Chapter 4.

Tom Vincente grabbed Professor Prentiss by the arm and dragged him to his feet. They ran as the attacking sky pirate plane opened fire, spraying the ground where they had just stood with bullets.

Damaged, the glowing crate’s loud, pulsing hum increased.

Then it exploded.

Purple fire spread outward.

The force of the blast sent the two men flying through the air. They crashed through the brush and disappeared behind a fallen tree.

A beam of purple energy shot straight up into the air, bathing the jungle in its brilliant, bright, violet hue.

The Beam hit the incoming attack plane, destroying it in a fiery bloom over the jungle.

Pieces of wreckage rained down around the plane as the passengers and crew scattered, seeking cover.

Fire spread all around them. Trees were instantly engulfed. Their comrade destroyed, the other pirate planes turned tail and ran.

From the ground, Buck looked up at the purple light as it shot upward, seemingly going on forever. It disappeared into a pinpoint at the limit of his vision, miles above the Earth.

“Where you think it’s headed?”

“It could be headed to Mars for all I know, Tom,” Buck groused. He pointed toward the destroyed crate housing the car engine sized chunk of unrecognizable metal equipment spitting out purple light. “Okay, spill it Professor. I need to know everything there is to know about this thing. Starting with, how do we turn it off?”

“I wish I knew,” Prentiss said as he stared at the marvelous device. “I’m sorry, but I have no idea what this thing is or how it works.”

“It’s your crate! How can you not know?” Vincente shouted, arms flailing.

“I’m afraid it…” he started.

“Classified,” Prentiss and Buck said in unison.

“It’s the favorite buzzword of the government and military life, kid,” Buck said with a shake of his head. “Pain in the keister.”

“You forget, Mr. Tellonger, I’ve heard your stories. We both know there’s enough top secret red tape in your official Air Corp file as well.”

“Doesn’t make it any less annoying, Doc.”

“On that we can agree,” Prentiss said.

“No matter what’s secret or not, those other pirates aren’t going to stay away long. As soon as they screw on some nerve or call in reinforcements, they’ll be back,” Tom said.

“He’s right,” Buck said.

“What’s your plan?” the professor asked.

“I’m working on it. First things first, we need to shut this thing down. Professor, you’re the closest thing to an expert. See if we can shut it down.”

“And if we can’t?”

“Then we need to be able to move it. There’s no version of this story that ends with those sky pirates getting their hands on that… whatever it is,” Buck said.

To be continued.

WE LOVE READER REVIEWS! 3 STARS FOR ENCHANTED TALES AND TWISTED LORE!

We Love Reader Reviews! Big thanks to b roberts for the kind words and 3 Star Amazon UK review of Cabbit Crossing Publishing's Enchanted Tales and Twisted Lore: Fairy Tales, Folklore, and Fables Reimagined - Volume 1 (The Crossing Genres Anthology Collection Book 3)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Enchanted-Tales-Twisted-Lore-Reimagined-ebook/dp/B0DYDH18DZ

"Not bad with one absolute gem. I received a review copy for free, and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.I really enjoy the re-imagining of fairy tales so was pleased when this popped up on Book Sirens. As with most anthologies, there are some stories that appeal more than others but on the whole the writing is competent or better than that. The "origin" story is obvious in some but more subtle in others and in a couple of cases I couldn't identify it at all…. Which is where the bonus material at the end comes in. Here the writers give some explanation of their work which I appreciated for those I could not pin down and found the thought/creative process used interesting to know in others. It's something I would like to see in far more stories/books.A enjoyed a handful of stories more than the others and I will be looking for more by their authors but the one stand out was the final story, "The Tao of Feeblecorn" by Paul Goat Allen. (Not sure if that middle name is a joke). For some reason this story doesn't have an insight at the end which actually makes it more thought provoking. It's a gem of a tale that resonated with me and I hope to find more work by the writer. For me, most of the stories are middle of the road fare hence the three stars, but I think this collection might appeal to many readers nonetheless."
