THE WRAP UP-- A FULL WEEKEND: FREE COMIC BOOK DAY AND WHOLANTA!

I had an absolutely amazing day yesterday.

It was an early start as I took a road trip to Kingdom Comics in Alabama for Free Comic Book Day, which, as always, continues to be an amazing event. Stan Daniels and his crew put on an amazing FCBD event and I was thrilled to be part of it. I had a lot of fun with friends both old and new, which is always a nice bonus. My Birmingham appearances are always great fun. My only regret is I didn't get a photo of my table.

After returning to Atlanta, I stopped by WHOlanta briefly and hung out after hours with friends. There were many laughs shared. A great cap to the day hanging out with wonderful people. We were having so much fun I never even thought about snapping a photo or two.

This morning got off to a great start as well with an appearance on The Chronic Rift talking about one of my favorite mini-series, V (full story to follow, but here's the link).

Not a bad way to spend the weekend. Not bad at all.

Bobby

BOBBY AND THE DOCTOR GET STUCK IN GRIDLOCK!

Earth Station Who podcast episode 178
I had a great time visiting with my friends at ESO (Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, & Mary Ogle) for The Earth Station Who Podcast Ep. 178 where we reviewed one of my favorite Doctor Who episodes, the 10th Doctor story, Gridlock.

Listen to the full traffic report HERE.

About Earth Station Who episode 178:
Why has it taken so long for the award-winning author Bobby Nash to join Mike, Mike, and Mary on ESW? Turns out he was stuck in traffic. Much like the Tenth Doctor and Martha in New New York. Give it a listen HERE.

We want to hear from you! Please write us at eswpodcast@gmail.com. Also, please subscribe and rate the show on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, Google Plus, or wherever fine podcasts are found. Feedback is always welcome and much appreciated.

SITTING IN TRAFFIC WITH ESW, MARTHA, AND THE DOCTOR!

I had an amazing time talking with my friends Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, and Mary Ogle on the Earth Station Who podcast tonight. We looked at one of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who, a Doctor and Martha story called "Gridlock."

Look for it to go live soon on ESW's site.

Here's the episode's trailer.

And here's a scene we spend some time on in the podcast.

I'll post more here when it goes live.

TIMEGATE 2014 CONVENTION WRAP UP!

The 1st time I've ever worn
a Doctor Who scarf.
It was a thrill to be a guest at TimeGate over the weekend, May 23 - 25, 2014. Timegate is one of my favorite cons. It is a busy convention with great panels, but still remains small enough to feel laid back with little pressure. I missed the con the last couple years due to other commitments so it was nice to return this year along with several of my Earth Station One podcast network cohorts.

There were the panels I appeared on over the weekend.

SATURDAY
10 am - Project NORTHERN LIGHTS SitRep (Aaron Dunne, Mike Faber, Bobby Nash, Debbie Viguie) We had a great crowd and lively discussion about all things Person of Interest. There’s a lot of love out there for this fantastic television series.

I love how this shot came out.
The reflected sun adds a lot to it.
11 am - Marvel At The Movies (Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, Adam Throne, Jen Hartshorn) We talked Marvel movies, TV, and of course, the comics. There was even a giveaway as one audience member walked away with a Spider-man DVD.

1 pm - Writing and the Media (Diana Botsford, Debbie Viguie, Bobby Nash) This was my favorite panel of the weekend. Not only did I get to talk about writing, but my co-panelists, Diana and Debbie, were great fun to chat with. You should definitely seek out their work. You won’t be disappointed.

4 pm - Arrow: The Second Shot (Aaron Dunne, Mike Faber, Bobby Nash, Debbie Viguie) This was a rather lively discussion and I loved it. Season 2’s changes have certainly split fandom.

Talking Elementary w/Louis Robinson
SUNDAY
2 pm - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Welcome To Level 7 (Aaron Dunne, Lee Martindale, Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, John Rabon) Another one of those shows that sparks much debate. Love it or hate it, there seemed to be no middle ground when it comes to talking about Marvel'’ Agents of SH.I.E.L.D.

3 pm - Elementary (Terri Sears, Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, Louis Robinson) I had the great joy or talking about Elementary, and Sherlock Holmes in general, with Louis Robinson and the audience. We also veered off topic a bit to talk about NCIS, which was also entertaining. This was my second favorite panel of the weekend.

My favorite pic from the weekend. Thanks to Nikki Rau Baker for this one.
My table O' books.
Being behind the table and flying solo at the con, I didn’t get to move around too much. I did get to spend a few minutes talking with guests Doctor Geek himself, Scott Viguie, JC and Rita De La Torre, Monsterama's Anthony Taylor, Mark Maddox, and several cool folks stopped by my table to say hello. I know I’ll forget someone so I won’t try to write down everyone who stopped by, but it was great chatting with you all. I didn’t get the opportunity to talk with Stargate’s Paul McGillion or Torchwood’s Gareth David Lloyd, but I did see both of them around the con floor. A highlight of the con for me was having Doctor Who’s Terrence Dicks stop by to check out my books.

All in all, I had a fantastic weekend at TimeGate. I’d like to thank Alan, Susan, and the rest of the crew for taking such good care of me this weekend. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

I apologize for the crappy photos I took. My camera's phone was not cooperating as it should.

MY CONNOOGA 2014 PANEL SCHEDULE

My bio in the 2014 downloadable Program Guide

From Con Nooga 2013 with
Andrea Judy and Sean Taylor.
I will be a guest this weekend at ConNooga (February 21 - 23) in Chattanooga, TN.

Always a fun show, the ConNooga Literary Track is incredible and I’m honored to once again be part of it. My panel schedule was released today. If you’re at the con, please stop by and say hello. I will also have a table somewhere in the dealer’s room with books to show off and hopefully sell so I can cover my hotel bill for the weekend.

BOBBY NASH'S CON NOOGA 2014 PANEL SCHEDULE:
4:00 PM Fri   Con Center #15        Panel: Writing Believable Dialogue
10:00 AM Sat   Con Center #15        Panel: Writing for Graphic Novels
1:00 PM Sat   Con Center #15        Panel: Pulp Fiction - What is it?
5:00 PM Sat   Con Center #15        Panel: The Writing Life and What it Takes
8:00 PM Sat   Choo Choo  Gallery B   Plot or Die! It's a no-holds-barred Plot Off!
11:00 AM Sun   Con Center #17        Panel: Writing Opening Lines and Hooks

My 2013 table
All of these sound like fun panels and I’m looking forward to being on them. The highlight of last year’s con was the Saturday night “Plot or Die!” panel. Doing a plot off with the other writers in attendance was the most fun and most laughs I had the entire weekend, especially once everyone started trying to one up the others. If you can join us for that, I promise you will not be disappointed.

My Earth Station One/Earth Station Who cohorts will also be on hand for a live recording on Saturday at 3 pm at the Convention Center in room #13. The panel/recording is called “Introducing Peter Capaldi/Reviewing Matt Smith” and I will probably be sitting in on that one as well, time and space permitting, of course.
The ESO Crew at Con Nooga 2013

You can learn more about Con Nooga here. Plus, keep up with them on Facebook and Twitter. The Con Nooga Lit Track can also be found on Twitter as well.

Looking forward to seeing you at the con.

EARTH STATION WHO EPISODE 55 – THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR

ESW at Timegate 50th event
After 50 years, The Doctor finally had his day and what a day it was! After the record-breaking global broadcast, the ESW crew celebrated the 50th anniversary with an event co-hosted with TimeGate Convention, Doctor Who: The Forgotten Doctor and DragonCon British Media Track. Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, Jennifer Hartshorn, and the Phantom Troublemaker had a blast sharing initial reactions to The Day of The Doctor special along with the award-winning author Bobby Nash, Beau Brown, Kirby
Bartlett-Sloan, and the main man of the night, Alan Siler. It was an added bonus to hang out with many friends and fans throughout the evening. So much fun, it should be an annual holiday!
