BOBBY JOINS REVNEWS FOR A LOOK AT DOCTOR WHO’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY PART TWO!

Merry Christmas, Doctor!

The RevNews look back at 2013, in it's role as the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, continues! Rejoin our gathering of Podcast Lords (with funny hats); Gary Mitchel, Tegan Hendrickson, Mike Gordon and Bobby Nash, as they discuss the rest of the year's events.

In this half, they cover The 50th Anniversary Special, the Five-ish Doctors, the retrospectives, "An Adventure in Time and Space" and the Christmas special, which contains Smith's departure and Capaldi's arrival.

And, as always, beware of SPOILERS!

Part Two is now live. You can listen to it here.

You can listen to Part One here.

RevNews: 2013 Year in Review - The Year in Who, Part Two!

It's not every show that makes it five years, much less 50! So this was a very big year for our favorite mad man with a box! In 2013 Doctor Who had a new (half) season, audio adventures, retrospectives, and a world-wide simulcast of the 50th Anniversary Special!

With so much to examine, Gary Mitchel has called in Whovian experts Tegan Hendrickson, Mike Gordon and Bobby Nash to look at all the highs and lows for our favorite Time Lord's banner year.

EARTH STATION WHO EPISODE 55 – THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR

ESW at Timegate 50th event
After 50 years, The Doctor finally had his day and what a day it was! After the record-breaking global broadcast, the ESW crew celebrated the 50th anniversary with an event co-hosted with TimeGate Convention, Doctor Who: The Forgotten Doctor and DragonCon British Media Track. Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, Jennifer Hartshorn, and the Phantom Troublemaker had a blast sharing initial reactions to The Day of The Doctor special along with the award-winning author Bobby Nash, Beau Brown, Kirby
Bartlett-Sloan, and the main man of the night, Alan Siler. It was an added bonus to hang out with many friends and fans throughout the evening. So much fun, it should be an annual holiday!

WHO ARE YOU?

I had a fantastic time at the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Party last night. Thanks to our friends at TimeGate, The Forgotten Doctor, BritTrack, and my Earth Station One/Earth Station Who podcast cohorts for spearheading the event. There were some fun panels and events then we watched "The Night of The Doctor", "The Five(ish) Doctors Rebooted", and "The Day of The Doctor" with a large audience, which only served to heighten the fun. Kudos to all involved. This was a fun event and I look forward to Christmas.

The photo above is a shot of the Earth Station Who crew last night at the Doctor Who: 50 Years of Adventure event. With The Phantom Troublemaker, Jennifer Hartshorn, Mike Faber (hiding behind the mic), Mike Gordon, and me on the right. Such a fun time.

A TASTE OF HONEY...

Spent some time tonight writing Honey West and doing some plot work for Ghost Gal. Here's a small taste of Honey West's adventure.

#####

Honey West grew impatient.

She hated waiting for anything. That included a table at her favorite Hollywood bistro, at the cinema, or at police headquarters on those rare instances where she needed some information. It didn’t matter where or when, if there was one part of her job that she hated, it was the waiting. So, naturally, the profession she chose was one where sitting around waiting for someone outside of her control to do anything. It frustrated her no end, but she was learning to cope with it.

Or at least she was trying to learn.

Honey West was a private detective and a good one at that. Even though she had only been in charge of H. West Investigations for a short time, already she had begun to make a name for herself as the p.i. to the stars. It was a misnomer, of course. While it was true that she had a couple of clients in her files who might be considered Hollywood royalty, she also had just as many files, if not more, from small businessmen, families, and local politicians. Honey got results. She worked fast and was discreet, the latter of which was usually of the utmost concern of her clients. No one liked having their dirty laundry aired publicly.

It was a sentiment that Honey understood all too well. Her father’s death had brought about all kinds of unwanted attention from the press and those who had known Hank West. At first it had been well-wishes and condolences, but once she made her plans to take the reigns and run H. West Investigations, it turned to questions of competence, threats, intimidation, and condescension. While those tactics might have scared off another her age, Honey West was made of sterner stuff.

Not only did she continue her father’s business, but she thrived in it. Now there were cases around the block, sometimes more than she could handle alone. For that reason, she kept a few freelancers on call for the odd job.

Tonight, she was flying solo.

#####

I didn't accomplish as much as I wanted on the writing front today, but not bad. I have a bit of a headache from too many hours in front of the laptop so I think it's time to push away for the night. We've got a big day ahead of us tomorrow with the Doctor Who 50th  After party with my ESO/ESW cohorts and friends.

Should be a fun time.

Sweet dreams.

Bobby
