EARTH STATION ONE EPISODE 216 – XMEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST MOVIE REVIEW

X marks the spot
Fighting for a world that fears them, the ESO crew battles through the latest installment of the X-Men franchise. Professor Mike Faber, “Magneto” Mike Gordon, the “Best there is at what he does and what he does is award-winning” Bobby Nash, Ashley “Kitty” Bergner, and Sentinel creator Dr. Van Allen Plexico jump back and forward in time to witness a crucial point in the X-Men timeline and whether or not the team should continue. We also tie writer D.A. Adams to The Geeks Seat, where even his Brotherhood of Dwarves can’t save him! Plus, we sit down with the cast of the upcoming Enoch the Traveler series headed by Torchwood's Gareth David Lloyd and share more of our experiences at TimeGate 2014 in the Khan Report. And as usual, we find other things to Shout Out about!

TIMEGATE 2014 CONVENTION WRAP UP!

The 1st time I've ever worn
a Doctor Who scarf.
It was a thrill to be a guest at TimeGate over the weekend, May 23 - 25, 2014. Timegate is one of my favorite cons. It is a busy convention with great panels, but still remains small enough to feel laid back with little pressure. I missed the con the last couple years due to other commitments so it was nice to return this year along with several of my Earth Station One podcast network cohorts.

There were the panels I appeared on over the weekend.

SATURDAY
10 am - Project NORTHERN LIGHTS SitRep (Aaron Dunne, Mike Faber, Bobby Nash, Debbie Viguie) We had a great crowd and lively discussion about all things Person of Interest. There’s a lot of love out there for this fantastic television series.

I love how this shot came out.
The reflected sun adds a lot to it.
11 am - Marvel At The Movies (Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, Adam Throne, Jen Hartshorn) We talked Marvel movies, TV, and of course, the comics. There was even a giveaway as one audience member walked away with a Spider-man DVD.

1 pm - Writing and the Media (Diana Botsford, Debbie Viguie, Bobby Nash) This was my favorite panel of the weekend. Not only did I get to talk about writing, but my co-panelists, Diana and Debbie, were great fun to chat with. You should definitely seek out their work. You won’t be disappointed.

4 pm - Arrow: The Second Shot (Aaron Dunne, Mike Faber, Bobby Nash, Debbie Viguie) This was a rather lively discussion and I loved it. Season 2’s changes have certainly split fandom.

Talking Elementary w/Louis Robinson
SUNDAY
2 pm - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Welcome To Level 7 (Aaron Dunne, Lee Martindale, Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, John Rabon) Another one of those shows that sparks much debate. Love it or hate it, there seemed to be no middle ground when it comes to talking about Marvel'’ Agents of SH.I.E.L.D.

3 pm - Elementary (Terri Sears, Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, Louis Robinson) I had the great joy or talking about Elementary, and Sherlock Holmes in general, with Louis Robinson and the audience. We also veered off topic a bit to talk about NCIS, which was also entertaining. This was my second favorite panel of the weekend.

My favorite pic from the weekend. Thanks to Nikki Rau Baker for this one.
My table O' books.
Being behind the table and flying solo at the con, I didn’t get to move around too much. I did get to spend a few minutes talking with guests Doctor Geek himself, Scott Viguie, JC and Rita De La Torre, Monsterama's Anthony Taylor, Mark Maddox, and several cool folks stopped by my table to say hello. I know I’ll forget someone so I won’t try to write down everyone who stopped by, but it was great chatting with you all. I didn’t get the opportunity to talk with Stargate’s Paul McGillion or Torchwood’s Gareth David Lloyd, but I did see both of them around the con floor. A highlight of the con for me was having Doctor Who’s Terrence Dicks stop by to check out my books.

All in all, I had a fantastic weekend at TimeGate. I’d like to thank Alan, Susan, and the rest of the crew for taking such good care of me this weekend. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

I apologize for the crappy photos I took. My camera's phone was not cooperating as it should.
