There was a nice surprise waiting in my driveway today. My Pulp Factory Award for Best Pulp Novel for Nightveil: Crisis at the Crossroads of Infinity arrived today and it is a thing of beauty. 

A big thank you to all who voted for the novel and to all who have read it and/or left a review. Your kind words have meant a lot to me. Also, a big thank you to Pro Se's Tommy Hancock for the opportunity to write this character I love and to Bill Black for the amazing cover art. "I just read the book, Nightveil: Crisis at the Crossroads of Infinity. I LOVED IT!!!! FIVE STARS!!!!! The book started out a little slow at first, mainly because I knew of the character but really didn't know anything about the character. It took a couple of chapters for me to get into the swing of things. The epic story flowed seamlessly. What amazed me the most is how well you making each character so unique to themselves, even though they were the same character from different Earths. I never once got confused which character was which, well done. Once the action started to pick up your ode to Crisis On Infinite Earths came into full effect. You characters were so well written, they felt real. The story was very complete start-middle-conclusion, but leaving me wanting more. Great job Bob, if you wrote another Nightveil book I would buy it for sure. Oh yeah the packaging is very nice and a beautiful cover art by Nightveil's creator Bill Black."

New Pulp publisher, Pro Se Productions has announced the release of my novel, Nightveil: Crisis at the Crossroads of Infinity. This is definitely a dream come true project for me. I have loved the character of Nightveil since I first read her adventures in ACComics back in the late 1980's in high school (yeah. I 'm old). I remember saying that I wanted to write this character one day. Well, it took a little over 30 years, but it finally happened and I'm thrilled.

Huge thanks to Tommy Hancock and Pro Se Productions for helping make this dream a reality. I’d also like to thank Bill Black and AC Comics for allowing me to play with their amazing characters in this novel. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

Happy September, my friends. I appreciate your patience with this month's ebook while I was at Dragon Con. While it is easily my favorite con of the year, it is also an exhausting one. It was great seeing some of you there. I hope you all had a grand ol' time.

This month, my patrons received an ebook copy of an oldie, but goody. Premiering in November 2012 from Radio Archives, NIGHTBEAT: NIGHT STORIES was released in ebook (Kindle) and audio formats. It was the first time I ever heard my work read aloud as an audiobook, which was equal parts bizarre and cool.

A little history. Nightbeat was an NBC radio drama series that aired February 6, 1950 – September 25, 1952. The show was sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer and Wheaties. Nightbeat told the story of Randy (originally "Lucky") Stone, a reporter who covered the night beat for the Chicago Star, encountering criminals and troubled souls. Listeners were invited to join Stone as he "searches through the city for the strange stories waiting for him in the darkness." Stone was portrayed on the show by actor Frank Lovejoy.

Nightbeat: Night Stories features stories by authors Howard Hopkins, William Patrick Murray, Paul Bishop, Tommy Hancock, Mark Squirek, and yours truly. The audio is read by veteran character actor Michael C. Gwynne. Cover by Douglas Klauba. Edited by Tommy Hancock. Published and produced by Radio Archives.

My story is called "The One That Got Away" and it's one of my favorites. I started out planning to write a fairly straightforward story of good guys and bad guys, with a damsel in distress between them. The characters had other plans and the ending became much better by my paying attention to them.

Time to walk the beat.

I've read Mr. Nash's work in the past so there was little doubt that I'd enjoy him working in the action/horror genre. The real strength of this first part of a serial isn't the supernatural elements, which are in no way lacking, what shines is the characterization. A lot or horror relies on the splatter and horror and worries less on the protagonists suffering through the excitement. This is why I return to Mr. Nash's work. It doesn't hurt that I dig me some vampires. And there's a fun take on them and werewolves herein. Its a worthy read and I will be back for more.

I will be writing a Nightveil digest novel for Pro Se Productions. I am beyond thrilled at the opportunity to write Nightveil. I have loved this character since I first read her comic book adventures back in the '80s. Not a lot of details to share yet so stay tuned.

New book released featuring a story by me. The Peregrine Omnibus Vol. 3 features my story, "Where there's Smoke..." which was originally printed in Tales of The Rook Vol. 1. Since then, the character's name has been changed and the stories re-released under the character's new name, The Peregrine.
