Star Trek premiered 60 years ago today. Though, I wasn't there for the original run, I discovered Captain Kirk and the intrepid crew of the Starship enterprise in the 70s after school. Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, a distinct possibility. the first episode I saw was The Paradise Syndrome. I was hooked and remain a Star Trek fan today.
On the writer side, I have been fortunate to write a few Star Trek fan films and essays for books. Not official Trek, but fun. I've also gotten to know some of the wonderful creators who bring star Trek to life. A nice, unexpected bonus young Bobby would have never thought might happen.
I still hold out a sliver of hope on the internal writer's bucket list that I'll get to write some official Star Trek in the future. It is such a rich universe that still has a lot of unexplored regions left to it.
Happy 60th anniversary, Star Trek.
