HUMBUG! HUMBUG, I SAY!

Happy Humbug Day
And who better to share it with than my favorite curmudgeon, R.O. from my old Life In The Faster Lane comic strip. I'll be nice and keep my grumblings to myself today. HA!

It's also the 1st Day of Winter, but I don't have a handy comic strip for that one. :)

A LITTLE CHRISTMAS CHEER!

I had not looked at these goodies in a while, but here's some Christmas cheer with characters I've written. I had so much fun cleaning and re-sizing them for modern social media requirements (mainly Instagram's square format) that I also decided to do a new one with Ghost Gal. Who knows, I might do more.

Enjoy and I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season and a very Happy New Year!

AND THE WIND DOWN...

Christmas was a very low key affair for me this year, which was fine with me. Despite some good and interesting times, 2013 has not been one of my best years and I really wasn't in a festive mood so instead of my foul mood dampening everyone else's spirits, I stayed by myself. Or as close to it as I can get these days.

I managed to squeeze in a little bit of work today, but for the most part it was a lazy, tired, boring day. I had a nice meal with my parents, which was nice, but other than that I didn't do too much, which was a nice change of pace. I capped the evening off with the Doctor Who Christmas Special and bid a fond farewell to departing Doctor, Matt Smith. It was a fun run and I'll miss him in the role, but I'm also excited for Peter Capaldi's tenure as The Doctor. Should be fun come August 2014.

As Christmas Day starts to wind down I think I'll read a bit, maybe watch some TV then call it a night then dive back into work tomorrow. There's still a lot of work ahead of me this last week of 2013.

I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful holiday.

'night, all.

"BAH HUMBUG!"

It's A Bundyful Life-- one of my favorite Christmas episodes.

A New Teaser Ad for
Operation: Silver Moon
Or something like that.  :)

I'm not really feeling all that festive this year so just stayed home today instead of doing the family Christmas get-together. I'm not grinchy or anything, just feeling the holiday blahs. They'll pass. Today, I added some words to the Ghost Gal novel, worked on the upcoming Operation: Silver Moon graphic novel (with beautiful art by my creative cohort, Rick Johnson), and watched TV. It's not what I'd call a super productive day, but there was progress made.

I hope you had a great day.

Merry Christmas.

BURNING THE MIDNIGHT OIL...

The author dreams of deadlines... and drools.
I added a few thousand words to this story today, which brings it close to the finish line. I'll give it a final polish and get it off to the publisher tomorrow. Right now, I think it's time for bed.

BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN!

Welcome back, boys and girls. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, for those who celebrate the holiday. I took a couple days off, which was nice. Of course, for a writer, taking the day off means only working part of the day, but it was still nice to spend time with family and friends and catch up on some long-overdue reading and TV watching.

I caught up with some programs on the DVR and even some stuff on DVD, including some Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which is one of my favorites. I also watched the new episodes of Rizzoli & Isles, the Doctor Who Christmas Special, and the series finale of Leverage, another favorite of mine. All good, fun shows.

Some news came out of my time off. On Christmas Eve I agreed to write a novel for a publisher featuring a character I've written before in a story with a well-known character I've not written before, which has me excited to see how the two characters work together. although I can't give any details, the well-known character has appeared in novels, comic books, and on TV. It's sure to be a fun project and I look forward to diving into it in a few months.

Then, on Christmas Day I agreed to write a novel for another publisher, one I've not previously written for in the past. I can't say much about this one yet either, but it's a genre I've not really explored much before now. I'll also be diving into this one in a few months, once I finish up some open projects on the ol' To Do List.

2013 is shaping up to be a mighty busy year, which is pretty darn cool. If all goes well, we'll also see Evil intent, Deadly Hearts, and Lance Star: Sky Ranger "Cold Snap!" out as well next year. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. There are several exciting projects on deck that I can't wait to talk about. will post more here when I get the go ahead from the publishers.

Happy New Year!

ODDS 'N ENDS...

A few items I saw on Facebook today that made me chuckle.

As a guy who writes a series of books with the word "Evil" in the title, I wholeheartedly approve this shirt. :)

Oh, I know this circle so well.

And finally, it is my fondest Christmas wish that the ERMAHGERD posts will end.
Seriously.

IT'S AN EARTH STATION ONE CHRISTMAS!

L-R: Kelly, Anthony, Bobby, Michelle, Mark, Mike G., Judy, Mike F.
Had a wonderful dinner with the Earth Station One crew last night. It's always fun breaking bread and chatting with my friends and we had a wonderful evening. We even managed a photo to commemorate the experience.

You can hear this motley assortment (or at least most of them) each week at www.esopodcast.com.

BLACK FRIDAY BLUES!

Despite my best-laid plans I broke with tradition and accompanied my Mom on a Black Friday shopping trip today since my Dad is sick and couldn’t join her. Thankfully, we didn’t have to fight too many crowds though. We went after 2 p.m. so it was all good. She found everything she wanted to buy too and didn't have to leave house before the crack of dawn.

Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday, which is an initiative where people are encouraged to visit local or small businesses. As I, as a writer/publisher am considered a small business, I rather like this idea. Heh. Of course, I think that books (paperback or ebook) make a great gift. There are a lot of talented writers out there with some great books that I'm sure you'll enjoy. Not one to pass up a chance for some shameless self promotion, let me also say that there are some links on this very site to some books I hope you'll enjoy. I know. Ain't I a stinker?

And then there's Cyber-Monday. I'm sure I'll promote that one too. :)

Now it’s time to settle in and get some writing done.

Have a great weekend.

TINKERING

I started tinkering around with an ad to hopefully help with book sales today. Of course, what I really should have been working on was writing as I have deadlines due, but alas no one procrastinates like a writer.  So, before I dive back into the Domino Lady novel, I thought I'd share the ads here.

The empty black spaces are for posting to Facebook and Google+ because the photo/avatar covers that space. It would be too much for them to be the same layout, huh?

What do you think?

Happy Thanksgiving.
