WE LOVE THRILLING ADVENTURE READER REVIEWS!

We Love Reader Reviews! Big thanks to Bill Wormstedt for his kind words and 5 star Amazon review of Crazy 8 Press' Thrilling Adventure Yarns 2025. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DVBYZ1YC

"Thrilling Adventure Yarns 2025 is very pulpy – in a good way!  This is the first volume of this series that I have bought, and I thought it was a lot of fun!

I’m not in the habit of reading anthologies of short stories, for no good reason, so this was a change for me.

The book contains 15 stories, and are broken up into a number of categories: Crime, occult, super(hero), sword and sorcery, science fiction, and fantasy, with several stories in each group. But these categories are kinda loose – and one or two lean into horror, which is fine with me.

The entire book has a pulp magazine feel, and is even formatted in some ways like an old pulp magazine, up to and including the ‘artificially’ worn cover! Each story is led by an illustration pulled from an old pulp mag, the illo kind of related to the story. Art on these is not credited, nor the direct pulp magazine source.

Several stories in the book appear to be related to other, non-printed here, stories. “Doc Dresden and the Lost Hollow” refers to a previous history to the character, and I don’t know where to find these other stories. Or even if they exist. “She-Devil of Paris”, using the pre-existing character of Irma Vep, ends with an open storyline and cries for a sequel.

As said above, the book is broken into a number of categories, and it orders the stories by them. We get the 3 crime stories followed by the 3 occult stories, followed by ….. you get the idea. Still you are getting a variety of stories, by 15 different writers and writing styles, and I enjoyed that variety very much. I read certain kinds of stories that I normally wouldn’t bother with (I am much more of a science fiction guy and not a fantasy guy, for example), but that was okay.

Every story was enjoyable, though some more than others, but that's to be expected. Did I enjoy the book as a whole? Yes. Am I thinking about buying the earlier books in the series for more of the same? Yes!"

Thanks again, Bill! Doc Dresden is a reboot of an old character I wrote years ago that very few folks actually saw so he's pretty much a new character in this incarnation. The previous adventures mentioned in my story are there to let you know he's been at this game a while. I hope to do more with this new version of the character. Doc Dresden was one of the first characters I created some nearly 40 years ago. Yikes.
