INTRODUCING... JEFF DEISCHER'S STRANGE DAYS!
I wrote intro for Jeff Deischer's new novel, STRANGE DAYS, which is now on sale.
It's always a pleasure to be asked to write an introduction for a novel. I get asked often, but don't always have time, but when I can squeeze one in, I really enjoy it. Plus, I get to read the novel before anyone else. That's always fun.
Bobby
Here's the info on Jeff's novel.
THE SUMMER OF ARGENT CONTINUES!
The fourth volume of the Argent series, a superhero universe of my own creation with stories set primarily in the Silver Age, is now available. Strange Days features the Mysterians, who debuted in Argent (published last year). Here they take center stage, with each member getting his or her origin told, as well as the team origin – including that of the team’s mysterious unseen leader, Dr. Destiny. The volume is organized into four “books” separated by “interludes”. The team faces such menaces as the Sorcerer, who bends reality to his will, the infallible Brain, a criminal mastermind with a superhuman mind, Gargantua, who can rearrange his body into form, and the Gauntlet and his Insidians. Introduction by Bobby Nash! Now available on Amazon and Create Space.

About Strange Days:
Strange Days Indeed The 1950s were a time of hidden menace in America. Communist spies lurked around every corner and the bomb could drop at any moment. No one was above suspicion. It is into these times that the Mysterians appear. The patients of the Destry Clinic are freaks, possessing superhuman abilities – but superhuman appearances as well. They cannot simply remove a costume and disappear into a crowd. They are unlike the other heroes of the Argentverse. Dr. Destiny, the mysterious, unseen leader of the Mysterians. Mach, whose ability to fly at tremendous speed is slowly killing him. NRG, who must wear cumbersome armor to protect others from his deadly energy. Metallica, who possesses metal skin. The Mysterians face equally astonishing menaces, including Gargantua, who can mold his form into any shape; the Brain, a criminal mastermind with a superhuman mind; the stunning Sorcerer, who can perform seeming miracles; the Gauntlet and his Insidians.

AN UPDATE...
It has been a hectic week with no end in sight.
My Dad is having problems with his knee that has prohibited him from driving for a week now. Yesterday, he was rushed into emergency surgery for it. He's fine now, resting comfortably, but still in pain and still unable to walk. I'm told this may be a process that takes several weeks to correct. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. Plus, my Mom is still dealing with her Cancer, which turns out wasn't as gone as she had been told. Seems a small amount decided to tuck itself in a hidey hole, but it has been found and is being treated. Again, we're expecting a favorable outcome.
I just wanted to let everyone know in case I'm a bit out of touch or unresponsive in the coming week or so. I generally have my phone with me so I'm rarely completely cut off, but things happen, right? There will be a lot of commutes to doctors, chemo visits, rehab, etc. in the coming weeks. Also, somewhere in there I still have a day job (at least for another 6 weeks until I get laid off) and the writing job, which I've fallen behind on, sadly that are grabbing up whatever free time I find. I'm not there yet, but I may have to cancel some convention appearances.
Will keep you posted.

SHERLOCK HOLMES/DOMINO LADY REVIEWED AT PULP FICTION REVIEWS!
Pulp Fiction Reviews' Ron Fortier gives us the lowdown on the Sherlock Holmes & Domino Lady trade collection from Moonstone Books. Read the full review here.
SHERLOCK HOLMES – DOMINO LADY
Edited by Joe Gentile
Moonstone Press
120 pages
Normally we don’t care for “hybrid” publications. By that we refer to books that have comics strips and prose stories mixed together between two covers; neither a full out graphic novel or a traditional prose anthology. And yet, as the old saying wisely dictates, for every rule there is always an exception. “Sherlock Holmes – Domino Lady” from Moonstone Press is that oh so rare, wonderful exception.
Edited by Joe Gentile, it reprints an earlier two-issue Domino Lady adventure by Nancy Holder and Bobby Nash, only now it is in full color, as are the other two short strips in this package. That in itself is a welcome upgrade to what was already a marvelous story. Next we have two short prose pieces, one by Nash and the other by Holder. Spaced between these is a solo Holmes strip Gentile and then the book wraps up with a solo Domino Lady strip by James Chambers and artist Scott P. “Doc” Vaughn. If you are unfamiliar with Vaughn, he does a great pulp sci-fi webstrip called “Warbirds of Mars” and is no slouch when it comes to drawing sexy 1940s style pin-up beauties. Thus his doing Domino Lady was an editorial stroke of genius.
Cap it all off with a gorgeous cover by the amazing Mike Fyles and you have a truly unique, fun and beautiful book any pulp fan would love to have in his or her collection. As for the book’s overall theme, the pairing of a 70 year old Holmes and the vivacious, alluring Ellen Patrick from Los Angeles…well, honestly, it works a whole lot better than one could possibly imagine. A tip of the pulp fedora to Moonstone Press. Here’s wishing for more such hybrids. You may make a believer out of us yet.

COMING AUGUST 2016 - MAMA TRIED - CRIME FICTION INSPIRED BY OUTLAW COUNTRY MUSIC!
Down and Out Books has released a press release for the upcoming Mama Tried crime anthology that includes a story by me. The title of each story in this collection comes from an outlaw country music song. My story is called "Ain't Living Long Like This" a song by Waylon Jennings. You can hear it here. Only the title comes from the song. The story itself is original. My story introduces private investigator, Jamie Southern as she takes on a blackmail case that leads to murder.
I'm honored to share this book with some extremely talented authors and it was fun to work with my friend, James Tuck for the first time. This one is sure to be a good read.
Mama Tried will be released on Monday, August 15, 2016.

Meet the Editor: Born
and raised in Georgia, James R. Tuck grew up drawing and reading from a wee
lad. A steady helping of Robert E. Howard stories, Golden Age comics, and books
he was far too young to have been reading combined with a very Southern
involvement in church and watching horror movies became the bedrock of his
creativity. He grew up, became a tattoo artist, and is now a writer of dark
fantasy and, as Levi Black, crime fiction. He co-hosts the "Fanboy and
Geek Girl Power Hour" podcast with his wife. Visit his website at JamesRTuck.com.
Down and Out Books, an

THE LIBERTYCON WRAP-UP!
The guest list was comprised primarily of authors. I did some interesting panels starting with the Writing For Comics panel with pals Martin Powell and Jonathan Maberry as well as Brett Brooks, John Holmes, and Sevan Paris. A great way to kick off the con. I had a reading, but it was not well attended, which is sadly not unusual. I also joined Stephanie Osborn, Martin Powell, and Dan Thompson in a great panel on Writing Sherlock Holmes. On the final panel of the weekend, I looked at the Cultural Significance of the Zombie Apocalypse with John Holmes, Daniel Hoyt, Bill Swears, and Mark Wandrey. All in all, some fun panels with great conversation. The Sunday morning Kaffeeklatsch was an interesting experience.
I also sold some books on Saturday, which is always a nice bonus before capping Saturday night watching the Atlanta Radio Theater Company perform live. That was a hoot. They are great. If you ever get the chance to catch one of ARTC's shows, I highly recommend it.
I had to cut out a bit early on Sunday so I missed my autograph session. Sorry to anyone I missed, but it couldn't be helped.
A fun weekend at a fun con.

SOMETIMES I GET ASKED STUFF... #37!
I hope everyone had a nice and safe 4th of July. It was quite noisy here as the neighbors set off enough fireworks that it sounded like a small war playing outside my window.
You can check out all of the past installments of Sometimes I Get Asked Stuff... here.
Q: Who's your
most favorite Lois Lane of all?
Noel Neill, who we
sadly lost this week, was my favorite for a long time. In recent years, Erica
Durance has become my favorite live action Lois Lane. Dana Delaney from the
animated series is a close second.
Q: What's your favorite comic book movie? Why?
Captain America:
Winter Soldier tops my list. This movie simply works on all levels for me. Not
only is the acting top notch, but at their core, these feel like the characters
I've known all these years of reading them in the comics. The story is well told
and the action really delivers. It quickly moved to the top of my list and
remains there.
