HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ERB!

A day late, but yesterday was Edgar Rice Burroughs' birthday. It was my honor to dip my toe into ERB's universe with Jamie Chase for our work on the At The Earth's Core graphic novel we did for Sequential Pulp Comics and Dark Horse Comics a few years back. For all of the ups and downs behind the scenes, I am incredibly proud of this book and the work we did. The friendship formed with Jamie was an excellent bonus.

Tuesday...

An offer has been made and accepted to get In The Wind - A Tom Myers Mystery into audio book production. Look for an official announcement coming soon to introduce the narrator. I also made an offer to a narrator to get another project of mine into audio book production. More details about that after I hear back from the narrator. Fingers crossed.

There was a good deal of family stuff happening today (nothing bad) so I didn't get much else done on the creative side of things, but I have been playing over some ideas in my mind as I plan ways to move BEN Books forward. Those plans most definitely include Snow and Sheriff Myers. Hopefully, tomorrow I can get back on track and get some words down. #focus

Bobby joins Dragon Con 2020's Virtual Author Mentoring Sessions! TIMES ANNOUNCED!

 

I'll be part of the Virtual Dragon Con Writers Track Mentoring Sessions this Labor Day weekend. My sessions will be held on Sunday, September 6th from 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm via ZOOM. Each session will last 15 minutes so sign up today and bring your questions. If more people sign up to talk to me than can be accommodated in this time window, I will add another session block so everyone who wants to, gets a chance to ask their writing/publishing/etc. questions. "I really enjoyed 'Snow Star'. The "reveals" are the best parts. 'Snow Star' continues to unpeel the layers of Abraham Snow, the ex-government agent-turned-detective we all have come to love. This time, writer Bobby Nash has slowed things down a bit and given us a story about Snow's detective style and, through flashbacks, more background of Snow's time as an undercover operative.

I really liked the detective parts of this story. Snow uses all of his skills and tools at his disposal in trying to figure out the puzzle laid out before him. He might not be the most experienced detective in the world, but he makes up for it with grit and determination. He is persistent and will not give up, which is what I think the reader really loves about his character.

The flashbacks of Abraham Snow, as the under-cover operative James Shepperd, give us another glimpse into the days leading up to that fateful gun-shot-to-the-chest event that was the opening of Snow Series Book One, 'Snow Fall'. This time it's a huge reveal of one of the biggest questions about that event. A big Ah-Ha moment, for sure.

The pacing of the book is a bit slower than the previous books, but detective work is like that. I read a chapter each night, sometimes two chapters. This gave me time to think about what was unfolding in the story. Abraham doesn't get to shoot his way to the solution of the case like he usually does, so he has to rely on his wits and observation skill. Keep your eyes peeled for the clues.

Overall I really enjoyed 'Snow Star'. The "reveals" are the best parts."
