" Robots and Beast-Men and Flying Saucers, Oh My! Take a 1950s public domain comic book character, mix him with a beloved public domain enchanted land, and stir with a healthy dollop of action and adventure, and you have this fun, little book. Nash is a master of Pulp fiction who clearly relished what he was putting down here. He's got all of the chops needed to put across all of the rollicking adventure the tale needed. It moves quickly, as good Pulp should, and while the characters are only broadly sketched, they do come alive from their actions. Fair warning, this is definitely a Captain Science story first and foremost. The Land of Oz stuff is, for the most part, a backdrop, and some readers may be disappointed that it doesn't feel like what they might expect from the original Baum novels, or the famous movie. That said, there's enough of it to create a weird hybrid that's both intriguing and compelling. It might even demand a follow-up. I had fun on this brief journey, and in the end, that's all that matters when you want a little dose of escapism. And this book is definitely that."
