A friend of mine posted that, in this time of crisis, she in the back of her mind keeps thinking that her creative work is non-essential. I think the opposite is true. If anything, I feel like this crisis we all find ourselves in the midst of has reminded people just how essentials creators are to the world. Look around at all of the creators doing special events to entertain those who are stuck at home, nervous, anxious, scared, and bored. And most of them are doing it for free or at an extreme discount simply because they see a need. The arts are helping keep the current crisis just a little bit more bearable.
I'd call that essential. Wouldn't you?
