Repost ESO:
Stan Lee is know as the father of the Marvel Universe, but Roy Thomas is the 'kid' who took it to the next level. For over 50 years Roy has been creating characters that are now mainstays of the MCU, then going to work for the direct competition and exploring the golden age heroes of the DC Universe. As always we want to hear from you at earthstationone@esonetwork.com. If you enjoy our show please tell your friends about us. Also, please subscribe, rate and leave feedback wherever fine podcasts are found.

WHO ARE THESE AVENGERS GUYS?

I had a great time visiting my buddies over at the Earth Station One podcast tonight. Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, Mark Holmes, and I had a fun conversation as we looked at the work and comic books of Roy Thomas. If you're an ESO patron, look for it on their Patreon page on Tuesday. The episode goes live to the general public on Thursday. I'll share the link as soon as I have it.

The attached image was my first Roy Thomas written comic book. I read it and was hooked. You can hear the full story behind me getting this comic on the podcast when it airs.

FEELIN' LIKE A ROCK STAR!

From the feeling like a rock star files.

Bobby and the Mikes in all their glory
Today, Facebook informed me that a photo had been uploaded of me and its facial recognition software wanted to tag me. Naturally curious, I went to look at the photo. It was a photo of my buddy, Robert McIntyre taken at the WHOlanta. All good. What I couldn't figure out was why FB was trying to tag me. I swear I looked at the photo a couple of minutes before the realization hit me that there's a photo of me, Mike Gordon, and Mike Faber from the ESO Network podcast on the shirt Rob's wearing. What's worse, Mike G. and I had even talked about the shirt the night before on the phone. So, I felt like a clueless idiot and a rockstar all at the same time.

Not a bad way to kickstart the day, huh?

Or, as Mike likes to say, #prolificproblems :)

NEEDLESS THINGS HAS SOME LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS!

Big thanks to Needless Things' Jerry Chandler for including me and my SNOW series in their list of 'Last Minute Christmas Gifts for Others and Maybe Even Yourself'. See who else made the list HERE.

Bobby Nash is a longtime friend of the Needless Things podcast and the Earth Station One family of podcasts, but, more importantly for this, he’s also an award winning writer. His style and subject matter ranges from old pulp to noir to gritty adventure and more. Between his own books and the various books he’s contributed to, his Amazon author’s page is packed with books to choose from as last minute gifts for both friends and your own reading pleasure.
Thanks again, Jerry. Much appreciated.

A little about Earth Station One. ESO is a podcast and also a network of podcasts (20 or so shows on the ESO Network at present, I believe). For 3 years or so, I was one of the co-hosts of the Earth Station One podcast (the mothership, as some of the hosts of the other shows on the network call it). It was a fun show and I had a great time co-hosting with ESO Director Mike Faber and “Howdy” Mike Gordon each week. Unfortunately, real life got in the way, as it does and I had to give up something and my options were podcasting or writing so I stepped away as an official co-host in September of 2015 to concentrate on my writing career. I have popped on the show a few times as a guest since then and I talk to Mike and Mike on a fairly regular basis.

The Earth Station One: Tales of The Station anthology was conceived as a fundraising effort to help bring in a few dollars to help upgrade the network servers, buy new microphones, etc. All stories are written by ESO Broadcast Network hosts or personalities, including some award-winners. I was still a co-host when I wrote my story. Here’s the official synopsis:

EARTH STATION ONE: TALES OF THE STATION
A Sci-Fi Anthology

New Legend Productions is proud to publish Earth Station One: Tales of the Station, an anthology featuring stories about the crew of the ESO Network podcast by Dr. Scott Viguie, Bobby Nash, Van Allen Plexico, Joe Crowe, and Michael Gordon. Introduction by Director Mike Faber. Cover art by Mark Maddox.

If you would like to read more, EARTH STATION ONE: TALES OF THE STATION is available from Amazon in paperback here-- https://www.amazon.com/Earth-Station-One-Tales/dp/1517017807.

You can also find the book in the ESO amazon Store here-- esopodcast.com
At this time, there is not an ebook version available.

SHERLOCK HOLMES/DOMINO LADY TRADE REVIEWED AT EARTH STATION ONE!

Earth Station One's Ron Fortier gives us the lowdown on the Sherlock Holmes and Domino Lady trade collection from Moonstone Books. Read the full review here.

SHERLOCK HOLMES – DOMINO LADY
Edited by Joe Gentile
Moonstone Press
120 pages
Normally we don’t care for “hybrid” publications. By that we refer to books that have comics strips and prose stories mixed together between two covers; neither a full out graphic novel or a traditional prose anthology. And yet, as the old saying wisely dictates, for every rule there is always an exception. “Sherlock Holmes – Domino Lady” from Moonstone Press is that oh so rare, wonderful exception.

Edited by Joe Gentile, it reprints an earlier two-issue Domino Lady adventure by Nancy Holder and Bobby Nash, only now it is in full color, as are the other two short strips in this package. That in itself is a welcome upgrade to what was already a marvelous story. Next we have two short prose pieces, one by Nash and the other by Holder. Spaced between these is a solo Holmes strip Gentile and then the book wraps up with a solo Domino Lady strip by James Chambers and artist Scott P. “Doc” Vaughn. If you are unfamiliar with Vaughn, he does a great pulp sci-fi webstrip called “Warbirds of Mars” and is no slouch when it comes to drawing sexy 1940s style pin-up beauties. Thus his doing Domino Lady was an editorial stroke of genius.

Cap it all off with a gorgeous cover by the amazing Mike Fyles and you have a truly unique, fun and beautiful book any pulp fan would love to have in his or her collection. As for the book’s overall theme, the pairing of a 70 year old Holmes and the vivacious, alluring Ellen Patrick from Los Angeles…well, honestly, it works a whole lot better than one could possibly imagine. A tip of the pulp fedora to Moonstone Press. Here’s wishing for more such hybrids. You may make a believer out of us yet.

Or you can read the full review here.

ON THE AIR...

It's funny how things happen. I haven't done a podcast in quite a while and last night I was a guest on two of them. Thanks to Mike Faber and Mike Gordon for having me on Earth Station One to talk about one of my favorite comic book creators, Gentleman George Perez and to Phantom Troublemaker for having me on the Needless Things Podcast to talk about Patreon, creating comics, and other geekery discussions.

It was a fun night talking geeky interests and I had a great time.

I will post details about each podcast when they go live.

YO, JOELANTA!!!!

I won't have a table, but look for me wandering around at Joelanta and The Great Atlanta Toy Convention on Saturday, March 12th.

It'll be my first time visiting this con and I'm really looking forward to meeting Larry Hama, a fantastic writer (G.I. Joe, Wolverine, Avengers), but he'll be the second person I've met who appeared on M*A*S*H (the first being Jaime Farr at a convention years ago).

If you see me there, please say hello.

CONVENTION UPDATE-- BOBBY NASH RETURNS TO TIMEGATE 2016!

I like to travel to cons in style.
Got the word today that I will be returning a an author guest to TimeGate Convention on Memorial Day weekend, May 27 - 29, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. TimeGate is one of my favorite cons. They get greats guests and good crowds, but remain small enough to be intimate relaxed cons where fans, guests, dealers, and the like can hang out and chat. It's a fun time.

TimeGate is Atlanta's Premier Doctor Who and British Media Convention. If you like British TV and movies, this is the con for you. There used to be a large Stargate presence (the 'gate' part of TimeGate), but that has tapered off as there s no new Stargate being produced. This is a great show to talk Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes, James Bond, Space 1999, Robin Hood, Hustle, Orphan Black, Torchwood, you name it.

With The ESO Network crew in 2015.
I'll be joining already announced guests Nicholas Briggs (the voice of the Daleks, the Cybermen, and the Judoon on Doctor Who), Jason Haigh-Ellery (executive  producer of Big Finish Productions), Graeme Harper (accomplished director), Terry Molloy (actor known for Doctor Who's Davros), Stephen la Riviere (executive  producer of Thunderbirds 1965), Louis Robinson (singer/songwriter/storyteller), Mark Maddox (award winning artist), Anthony Taylor (author), RetroTVJoshua Wilson (associate editor for Mad Norwegian Press), Courtland Lewis (philosopher/historian/author/musician), PixelWho (artist Nathan Skreslet and manger Ly Cao), Lt. Moxie Magnus (writer/entertainer), The ESO Network (podcasters), with more guests to be announced in the coming days and weeks.
My table at TimeGate 2015.

Timegate will be held on May 27 - 29, 2016 in Atlanta, GA. http://timegatecon.org

I hope to see you there!
