TO THE BATCAVE, OLD CHUM!

Book 1 cover art
Now that the bat's out of the bag, so to speak, I can let you know about this cool new project I'm involved in for Crazy 8 Press! I landed a cool Bat-gig this past week, which may give you a clue. What's this? Flinch Books recently announced the upcoming release of the first volume in a three-book episode guide that covers the truly bat-tastic 1960s Batman TV series, edited by Jim Beard and published by Crazy 8 Press. I will be contributing an essay for the second volume, available sometime in 2021. There will be more details announced as the book gets closer to release, but I can say that there are some tremendous authors involved, including: John Bruening, Paul Kupperberg, John S. Drew, Peter David, Keith DeCandido, Jim Beard, Greg Cox, Teel James Glenn, Joe Crowe, Ed Catto, Michael Jan Friedman, Frank Schildiner, Rich Handley yours truly, and many more. Stay tuned, citizens! Lots of Bat-fun coming soon!

Book 1: ZLONK! ZOK! ZOWIE! The Subterranean Blue Grotto Guide to Batman '66 - Season One arrives in April. Learn more about it HERE.

HAPPY 30TH BATMAN!

Batman premiered June 23, 1989. It was the first movie I saw after graduating high school. This movie had a profound impact on me as a movie lover and comic book fan. Not only did this movie launch a new wave of Batmania, but it led to the creation of the exceptional Batman The Animated Series. 1989 was a great time to be a comic book geek.

Happy 30th Bat-Birthday, Batman!

Geez! Hard to believe it's been 30 years since I graduated high school.

FEELING ARTSY...

Doing a little art yesterday. My first time (that I recall) drawing Hellboy. Mike Mignola's design work makes it look deceptively easy. Trust me, it is not. Click for a larger view.

Yesterday's Sketchapalooza continued with a visit by an old friend. It's been a long time since I drew R.O. and he won't let me forget it. R.O. and the Life In The Faster Lane cast were patterned after my family. R.O. is definitely my dad. You can see some of the old strips at http://fasterlane.blogspot.com (has not been updated in a long time. I'm planning a collection of Faster Lane strips this year. Adding some color to them. Fun trip down memory lane.

I packed up two packages of Bobby's Big Box O' Books yesterday and included a couple of box doodles before they go in the mail. Those are always fun to do.

It's not too late to get your Big Box O' Books. GET YOURS HERE TODAY!

TO KA-BOOM OR NOT TO KA-BOOM? IS THAT THE QUESTION?

Happy Batman Day, chums!
Oh, yeah. Wasn't the world supposed to end today or something like that? Of course, I never believed it. It's Batman Day. Batman will never let the Earth be destroyed on Batman Day. I mean, come on, people. Let's be reasonable here.

And yes, that is sarcasm, for those who will no doubt try to correct me.

Ah, well. Good thing the world didn't come to an end. I have too much work to do.

EARTH STATION DCU CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES!

This week, I joined the Earth Station DCU crew of Drew Leiter, Cletus Jacobs, and ESO's Howdy Mike Gordon to discuss the 25th anniversary of one of my favorite TV series, Batman: The Animated Series. You won't want to miss this fun trip down memory lane, which is much safer than taking a trip down Gotham's Crime Alley, on the latest episode of Earth Station DCU. Give it a listen at the ESO
Broadcasting site, Libsyn, or iTunes.

About ESDCU episode 63: This Week on Earth Station DCU! Drew Leiter and Cletus Jacobs are joined by Mike Gordon and Bobby Nash to celebrate 25 years of Batman: The Animated Series! In Batman #30, The Dark Knight has finally picked a side! Has he picked the Joker or the Riddler? In Superman #30, It is Sinestro vs. Paralax! (Wait is this the right title?) FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2017 - THE WRAP UP!

On Saturday, May 6, 2017, I joined an impressive group of comic creators like Francesco Francavilla, Julie Barclay, Shane Berryhill, Drew Geraci, Joe Pruett, Jorge Santiago Jr., and Marcel Vann for Free Comic Book Day at Dr. No's Comics and Games Superstore in Marietta, GA. Creators began signing around noon until 2 p.m., although several stayed much later.

Free Comic Book Day is one of my favorite events of the year. Not only do publishers create special content for the day, but the local comic book stores really go all out to make it a fun-filled event for comic fans. FCBD events have almost becoming mini conventions in their own right.

As usual, I was doing free sketches for the kids and the kids at heart. I love drawing, but it's not something I get to do often. Below are photos and sketches from the event. A big thank you to all who came out to say hello and to Cliff Biggers and the staff at Dr. No's for putting on such an amazing event and taking good care of us. I had hoped to get all of the creators together for a group photo, but we were all so busy there wasn't time.

What is Free Comic Book Day, you ask? Find out here.

SOME GOOD NEWS...

In other cool news, I had a book accepted by a publisher today. That kind of news is always big fun (and deserving of a thumbs up from Batman, I think). There are no details I can share as yet as this just happened, but it's a publisher I've not worked with before and I'm excited to see what we can make happen.

I will, of course, announce details here as soon as I have them, but for now I just wanted to share the good news.

ATCON 2016 CONVENTION WRAP UP!

With the award-winning Mark Maddox
I had an amazing time at AthCon this weekend. Here are some photos from the weekend I posted on Instagram. It was a fun time. A little on the cold side as we were set up outside, but a good time was had. I even sold a couple books.

Despite the cold, I got to hang out with some cool folks like Mark Maddox and his the Maddox kids, James and Ava, Michael A ClarkJim AdamsBryan SilverBax, Mark HelwigJohn PenceDimitri Walker, Mike Gordon, Tim Norris, Alan Siler, Bill Ritch, Michael Bishop, Kyle Puttkamer, Greg Crews, Sonya Thompson, and more.

For me, the panels were the highlight of the weekend. There was a writing panel each day and they were a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the chance to talk writing with Michael Bishop, John Pence, and Tim Norris (above). We had a great time.
