THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST!

I saw this magnificent blast from the past on FB earlier today.

A nice walk down memory lane.

The bridge, Admiral Kirk, Mr. Spock, and Doctor McCoy were all waiting for me under the Christmas Tree in1980. I loved it. A total surprise as my parents were about as anti-Star Trek as you could get. I wish I still had it, but the bridge set was thin plastic and did not survive long.

Good times.

A look at 2024 in words and books!

I was asked elsewhere so I crunched some numbers.

In 2024, I had 22 projects released into the world. 18 in wide release. 2 on-line only (until 2025), and 2 short films. See the attached graphic. This includes comics, novels, short stories, essays, and film scripts.

In 2024, I attended 31 events. Conventions, conferences, libraries, bookstore, comic shops and festivals. I admit, this number caught me off guard. I didn't realize it had been so many.

In 2024, I wrote a little over 300,000 words of fiction. That doesn't count essays, blogs, backmatter in books, interviews, press releases, etc. There's still 5 days left in the year so, conservatively, you can probably add about 10,000 more before January 1 rolls around.

Whew. No wonder I'm tired.
And there's still a week to go.

FYI: Snow fans, Snow Island begins serializing in January. Stay tuned.

As always, I appreciate you going on this journey with me.

Happy New Year!

THE SNOW INTERVIEWS: MEET JEFFREY HAYES!

I am fortunate to work with some amazing people on the Snow books and I wanted to give readers a chance to get to know the talent behind the scenes.

Jeffrey Hayes is the uber-talented illustrator behind Plasmafire Graphics. Not only does her provide covers for the Snow series, but also the Sheriff Tom Myers series, both for BEN Books, but he also handles cover duties for my Dante series from Valhalla Books. Jeffrey has given the Snow characters their distinctive looks and some fantastic cover art.

And now, meet Jeffrey Hayes.

Bobby

1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your background. How did you get into illustration and design?

I was ten years old in 1970, so to say I grew up in the 70s would be precise. I love the long-gone print media of that era. From movie posters, comics, magazines, and TV Guide, I loved the art and illustrations and would cut out my favorite pieces and keep them in a scrapbook to reference and attempt to emulate. This was also the era when table-top gaming was growing, so I got a job with a couple of Austin, Texas game publishers doing illustrations for games and related trade magazines. I then worked for a regional grocery company doing display and sign work until I changed careers, all the while maintaining my interest in illustration. In the 2000s, I began doing promotional posters for indie filmmakers and audio-drama production groups, which ultimately led to indie publishing and book covers and the creation of Plasmafire Graphics.

2. Who is Abraham Snow?

As I said, I grew up in the 70s and watched some of the best cop shows on television. I had a steady diet of, “Adam-12,” “Rockford Files,” “Beretta,” “Hawaii 5-0,” “Starsky and Hutch” and the like, all while watching reruns of shows like “Dragnet,” “Manix,” and “F.B.I.” This didn’t stop in the 80s, when shows like, “Magnum P.I.,” “Hill Street Blues,” “T.J. Hooker,” “Miami Vice,” and more were there to absorb. With that, my answer is simple, Abraham Snow is an amalgam of the very best leading
characters of those classic police action shows I grew up watching.

3. What draws you to the various characters in the Snow series?

When I read the Snow series, I see bits and pieces of the characters from the classic TV series I love. They are written with identifiable and reliable traits and behaviors that make them as interesting and the series lead. Then somewhere along the line, something remarkable happens. The Snow characters take on a life of their own and become fully fleshed-out and unique characters I can see in my mind’s eye. The Snow universe of good guys, bad guys, and questionable characters all resonate with me which makes them easy to illustrate.

4. Why should people be reading or listening to the Snow books?

The Snow stories are fast-paced and action-packed like any great and memorable classic cop show. If you like a mystery, a few car chases and gun fights, and all the other fun associated with those 1-hour cop shows of the 70s and 80s, then you should be reading these books. Each book is like a television episode, containing all the best elements from those classic TV shows.

5. Where can people learn more about you and your work?

You can learn more about my illustration world at www.plasmafiregraphics.comwww.facebook.com/plasmafiregraphics, or www.instagram.com/plasmafiregraphics

Thanks again, Jeffrey!

THE SNOW INTERVIEWS: MEET STUART GAUFFI!

I've been wanting to do this for a while, but in true writer form, I keep procrastinating.

I am fortunate to work with some amazing people on the Snow books and I wanted to give readers a chance to get to know the talent behind the scenes.

I call Stuart Gauffi The Voice of Snow because he's been bringing these characters to life in audio book form since the beginning. If you've enjoyed the Snow audio books, I encourage you to check out Stuart's other offerings, including out own Lance Star: Sky Ranger. You won't be disappointed.

And now, meet Stuart Gauffi.

Bobby

TEAM SNOW Q & A
STUART GAUFFI

1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your background. How did you get into voice work and audio book narration?

I've had an interest in the capabilities of the human voice from a very young age, when I first learned that one man--Mel Blanc--was responsible for most of the voices of the Looney Tunes characters, and many others as well. That was part of what got me into acting, and voice acting in particular. Professionally speaking, I started doing voice work with narration for various organizations. Ironically, I stayed away from audiobook work for a long time, for various reasons. But thanks to a friend and colleague, I took a swing at them a few years ago, and discovered that my lifelong love of characters had found a new home.

2. Who is Abraham Snow?

Snow is a former federal agent who, for a variety of reasons, would be well-advised to take it easy. Naturally, this means that the universe conspires to ensure that's the last thing he'll be able to do. As he's forced into one adventure after another, we get to go along for the ride...and what a ride it is!

3. What draws you to the various characters in the Snow series?

Like most my age, I grew up on the action shows of '70s and '80s TV. Those shows featured characters that operated within focused groups of friends, relatives, and colleagues. Think Starksy and Hutch, magnum, p.i., The A-Team, Simon & Simon, Airwolf, Knight Rider, and so on. All those characters were the antithesis of the so-called "Mary Sue": they had their shortcomings and foibles, and depended on one another to get the job done. Although Abraham is a bit of a loner, he still depends on friends and a few family members to have his back when the chips are down. I love bringing that kind of world to life.

4. Why should people be reading or listening to the Snow books?

I think the Snow series is recreational reading of the best kind. It lets the reader or listener in on a world of relatable characters you want to cheer for (or boo--there's plenty of bad guys!), without caring in the least about what's going on in the real world. It's adventure escapism, and everyone can use a bit of that from time to time.

5. Where can people learn more about you and your work?

You can find my audiobook work anywhere you get your audiobooks. There's something for everyone, both fiction and non-fiction. I don't do a ton of social media, but I'm always findable through stuartgauffi.com.

Remo Williams: The Adventures Continue

A pulpy Action/Adventure Anthology

Remo Williams: The Adventures Continue is now available now from Bold Venture Press. When Democracy came under attack, CURE unleashes The Destroyer to battle all manner of evil. I have a story in this one called "O' Deadly Deathtrap!"

Remo’s back, unarmed and dangerous ...with Harold W. Smith, grey-hearted director of CURE, and the inscrutable Chiun, Reigning Master of Sinanju, in twelve stories by the original authors and several newcomers!

A “dead” cop awoke to find himself recruited into a clandestine agency; enlisted as a government assassin; trained to the absolute peak of human perfection in Sinanju, the sun-source of all martial arts. Remo Williams became Sinanju — and then he became The Destroyer, America’s best last hope to uphold the Constitution — by circumventing its laws.

SMALL BUSINESS WEEKEND WRAP UP! UPDATED WITH ART!

I had a great time today at the Small Business Weekend Artist Market . Always fun hanging out with James Palmer & Gracie Palmer. Caught up with friends and met some cool new folks too. As a nice bonus, I sold some books and did a nice piece of art. Will share it after I know the recipient sees it. Big thanks to Fox Gradin, Celestial Studios, & the Lakeshore Mall for hosting. It was a fun day.

The event ran two days, but I was under the weather and had to miss Saturday. Thankfully, I felt better for Sunday.

Now that she's seen it, here's the portrait I did of Celestial Studios' Fox Gradin, our host for the weekend's Small Business Weekend Artist Market . It was a bit nerve-wracking as I don't generally do portraits of real people, but I'm thrilled how it turned out.

Have a great week ahead.

About Dante's Reckoning
A Western/Horror novella

HELL COMES TO DANTE!

Once upon a time, a deal was struck. The discovery of a fortune’s worth of gold and silver turned paupers into land barons. The town of Dante was born. It’s been dying ever since. And now it’s time to settle up unholy debts.

The Final Settlement is upon us.

Dr. Tannen Archibald continues his quest to make reparations without the help of his daughter, she who is meant to be the doorway through which the final debt is paid. Emily Archibald lies in a coma after an act of sabotage left her clinging to the last vestiges of her undead life. If she doesn’t wake up, Dante is doomed.

Elizabeth Perth and Heath Moore continue their crusade to stop the Final Settlement. They have formed an alliance with Father Elias, Dante’s vampire priest and an old friend recently returned to Dante. If they cannot thwart Dr. Archibald’s plans, Dante is doomed.

Meanwhile, in the desert wastelands just beyond Dante’s border, something stirs. Hell has come to Dante.

It’s all been leading to this. Dante’s Reckoning is the final chapter in the first story arc about a tiny little piece of Hell on Earth. Welcome to Dante, Arizona.

We hope you survive the experience.
