PRODUCTION UPDATE - IN THE WIND: A SHERIFF TOM MYERS MYSTERY BY BOBBY NASH!

I spent Sunday night doing production work on the paperback and ebook editions of "In The Wind" the Sheriff Tom Myers mystery. I wrote an essay to accompany the book, laid out the pages, gave it a final polish, and it's almost ready to go. The plan is to upload it to Amazon KDP tomorrow to go on sale around August 1st. Fingers crossed. I will solicit audio narrators once it is on sale as well. But for now, it's time to call it a day. I'm beat. Sweet dreams and let's dive back into it tomorrow. Stay creative, my friends. #focus Cover by the amazing Jeffrey Hayes.

DOOMED AGAIN...

You can just catch the briefest glimpse of me in the new Doom Patrol season 2 trailer. You can see it below or watch it HERE.

That's me wearing the red feather boa and George R.R. Martin hat. Robot Man kept referring to me as Disco George R.R. Martin on set.

Don't blink.

This was a fun set and I had a blast working with everyone. The mansion is gorgeous.

MY STAR WARS STORY...

I'm feeling contemplative today so please bear with me as I share my Star Wars story for May 4th. A few who know me may have heard this before, but I have a vivid memory of the first time I saw Star Wars (before "A New Hope" was added to the title). In fact, I have a vivid memory of the entire day. It was a Saturday (no. I don't recall the exact date) and the 85 Drive In (right next to where Spaghetti Junction is now for those of you who live in Atlanta) was showing a double feature for the kids and families. First off, The Jungle Book with Star Wars following. My parents have never been big on going to the movies so this was a rare treat for me and a big deal. We made a day of it.
The drive in housed a flea market during the day and we went to that. I bought a copy of Marvel Super Action #22, which reprinted a story featuring characters I was not familiar with... The Avengers (Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, Vision, Black Panther, and Black Knight - a peek into the MCU decades to come). After that, we had lunch then came back for the double feature. I had seen The Jungle book before on TV and it was a fun movie to watch, but like so many of the other kids, I watched it from the swing sets.

When Star Wars started, we were back in my parent's van to watch the movie. From the opening crawl, I was hooked. I already liked Star Trek, which aired after school in reruns and The Six Million Dollar Man was a favorite as well. As soon as the fanfare started and the crawl began scrolling by and then that big star destroyer did its flyby, I was a sci-fi fan. I devoured anything Star Wars I could find, getting some action figures and play sets and the treasury edition of the Marvel Comic to name a few. I was hooked. Now, all these 40 years later, I still get a chill when I hear that 20th Century Fox fanfare (which is a thing of the past now) and would always be disappointed if the fanfare was not immediately followed by the words "A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away..."

I took this photo
In the intervening years, my love for this universe has never wavered. There have been things I like better than others, but Star Wars has remained an important part of my life. I have friends who are Star Wars cosplayers and fan-film creators (I even got to appear in one of them, which was a ton of fun). I have met actors, writers, artists, and directors who have crafted these amazing adventures. I have a great memory of seeing an X-Wing as a small child on a trailer in a parking lot and my mom taking a Polaroid of me standing next to it. I wish I knew where that photo was these days. Sadly, I fear it is lost to time. The first autograph I got at a convention was from Darth Vader himself, David Prowse. He was a rather surly man, but Vader had been a long-time favorite character of mine and meeting the man inside the suit was special. I have bumped into Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Anthony Daniels at cons. I also had a short, but wonderful conversation with Irvin Kershner, who not only directed my favorite star Wars movie, The Empire Strikes Back, but also the pilot episode of seaQuest DSV, which was a show I adored.

My brother, Wes and I shared a love of Star Wars. We often watched the movies and shows together and have great discussions about them. One of my regrets is that he did not get to see the end of The Clone Wars before he passed away. He was a fan. I plan to finish up the season very soon, but it won't be the same without him.

Thanks for letting me ramble. I remain excited for the future of Star Wars. Whatever happens next, I'll be ready for a return visit to a Galaxy Far, Far Away...

THE AUGUSTA TOY AND COMICS SHOW/JOEFEST 2020 DATE CHANGES...

The Augusta Toy and Comic Show/Joefest 2020 was scheduled for June 27 - 28, 2020 in Augusta, GA at the New Augusta Convention Center. Due to COVID-19 issues, the convention had been rescheduled for Labor Day weekend. BUSY DAY. AN "IN THE WIND" UPDATE!

Busy day. So far today, I have written 3 story pitches, did some admin work, and am now writing the next chapter in my Patreon serialized novella, "In The Wind" which is a crime thriller published a chapter at a time at www.patreon.com/bobbynash. If all goes well, the next chapter will post tonight or tomorrow.

Bobby

About "In The Wind" a Sheriff Tom Myers crime/thriller:
An FBI/US Marshals safe house is attacked. Four agents are dead, two other are in critical condition. The safe house is in flames and the federal witness they were protecting is on the run. Now it's up to Sommersville Sheriff Tom Myers and his deputies to find the missing witness before his criminal pals he was to testify against find him first. It's a race against the clock through undeveloped Sommersville County. Who will find him first?

You can catch up on the story so far at www.patreon.com/bobbynash Subscriptions start as low as $1 a month and helps keep the writing machine running, especially in this rough year where convention revenue has been lost. $5 enrolls you in the ebook of the month club.

CHUCK'S COMIC OF THE DAY BLOG GIVES OPERATION: SILVER MOON A GRADE A REVIEW!

A Big Thank You to Chuck at Chuck's Comic of the Day blog for his kind words and nice review of Operation: Silver Moon. You can read the full review HERE and below.

Physical copies of comics may be difficult to land right now, but luckily we can still order graphic novels or tap into digital comics (and there are signs that the comics shop shutdown may be ending soon. Maybe.) Here's a recent graphic novel that has a lot of fun with some classic horror movie tropes - it's called Operation: Silver Moon.

Set during World War II, it follows a special American agent named Lupus who has a distinct advantage over the Nazis he faces: he's also a werewolf!

This has the wonderful advantage of allowing him to cut loose violently against some truly terrible opponents! And when the bad guys track down a powerful mystical weapon in the Carpathian Mountains, Lupus finds himself squaring off against both Nazis - and a powerful vampire!

The story by Author Bobby Nash provides lots of action and just enough humor (and yes, humanity) to keep the main character likable and relatable.

The art is by Rick Johnson, and there are flashes of brilliance in there as he draws in a style that seems to be influenced by Paul Gulacy. He keeps the action fast and furious and always in motion!

The graphic novel is a fun mix of genres with enough plot twists to keep you on your toes, and all the action you'd expect if you caught this story at a movie theater! Recommended! Grade: A

You can get your very own copy of Operation: Silver Moon HERE. Available in paperback and ebook. Read it FREE with your Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Happy Reading.
