A BIT TOO OLD FOR COMICS? BLOG SPOTLIGHTS AUTHOR BOBBY NASH!

Bobby and Robert in Atlanta
Robert McIntyre said some really kind words about me and my work over at his A Bit Too Old For Comics? Blog as part of his Meet The Writer series. You should check it out HERE.

You can also catch up on Robert's other amazing posts as well, including from his trip to Rome. He also holds the record for farthest traveled books I've ever been asked to sign, having carried them from Yorkshire to Atlanta.

Thanks again, Robert. I am blown away by your kind words, my friend, and honored to be part of your blog. I look forward to seeing you and Helen on your next US visit.

THE WRAP UP! TIMEGATE GOES OUT ON A HIGH NOTE!

My Timegate 2016 author table!
Timegate 2016 program book
Last weekend I was a guest at Timegate 2016! I've been a guest at TimeGate a number of times in the past and I always have a great time. Timegate is a small show compared to beasts like DragonCon and San Diego Comicon, but that's a big part of its charm. It's a relaxicon where you can sit back and enjoy spending time with fans and guests alike. Little did I know that this year's con would be the final TimeGate. Yes. As with all good things, this too has come to an end, but this is science fiction so nothing stays gone forever.

Next year, TimeGate regenerates (see what I did there?) into WHOLANTA!

TimeGate (and next year, WHOLANTA) is an annual Doctor Who
WHOLANTA begins 2017!
and British media and culture convention in Atlanta, GA. Attendees come from all over the Southeast, all over the nation and even from as far away as England to take part in the festivities. Launched in 2005, the convention hits its 10 year anniversary in 2015 with special guest Katy Manning and Michelle Gomez. Past Doctor Who guests have included actors Colin Baker, Sophie Aldred, Mary Tamm, John Levene, Colin Spaull and Caitlin Blackwood, script editors Terrance Dicks and Andrew Cartmel, composer Dominic Glynn, film editor Louis Robinson, and more.

Ma and my...
TAAA-AAR-RDIS!
For 2016, we celebrated 20 years of the 8th Doctor with special guest, the 8th Doctor himself, Paul McGann. I was fortunate to meet Mr. McGann, who was easily accessible and such a nice guy. A great guest. I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a photo with him. I also got to spend time with some amazing guests like Louise Robinson (one of the nicest people you'll ever meet) Nicholas Briggs, Terry Malloy, Jason Haigh-Ellery from Big Finish, my pals from the ESO Network, who were out in full force-- Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, Jennifer Hartshorn, Judy Faber, William Faber, Dr. Scott Viguie, Debbie Viguie, Jason De La Torre, Rita De La Torre, and quite a few friends of the station. Also on hand were artist Dimitri Walker, authors Jonathan French, A.R. Cook, and Lee Martindale, Monsterama's Anthony Taylor, Lt. Moxie Magnus, and more.

I had a table set up with my books, including the new Sherlock Holmes/Domino Lady trade collection, which was my biggest seller of the weekend. I also did 3 panels and Gallifrey Game Night, which was more laughs than I ever thought it would be.

I'd also like to say special thanks to Rebecca Perry for helping me with my table during the con while I ran off to do panels. Much appreciated.

TIMEGATE 2016 PANEL SCHEDULE RELEASED!

The panel schedule is live!
Ready to start planning your TimeGate weekend?

The only way to travel.
Well, now you can!

The TimeGate 2016 Programming Schedule is here! This is a full list of everything we have planned for you for this year's convention. Keep in mind that there may still be an edit or two over the coming week, as we finalize panelists and make final tweaks (there are a couple of panelist conflicts we have to resolve). Once the schedule is completely finished, the app will be loaded with all the event information and released. You'll be hearing more about some exciting changes with the app very soon. For now, though, you can consider the schedule to be about 95% complete. (Like battle, no con schedule survives contact with the enemy. Ha!)

You can find the full Google Doc schedule here on on Timegate's website.

Here's my panel schedule for TimeGate 2016.

I will also have a table at the convention where I will have books for sale or if you just want to stop by and say hello or chat.

If you're there Saturday night, please come out to Gallifrey Game Night. I have no idea what I'm in for so I can use all the cheering, friendly faces I can get. I'm a little nervous.

See you there.

CONVENTION UPDATE-- BOBBY NASH RETURNS TO TIMEGATE 2016!

I like to travel to cons in style.
Got the word today that I will be returning a an author guest to TimeGate Convention on Memorial Day weekend, May 27 - 29, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. TimeGate is one of my favorite cons. They get greats guests and good crowds, but remain small enough to be intimate relaxed cons where fans, guests, dealers, and the like can hang out and chat. It's a fun time.

TimeGate is Atlanta's Premier Doctor Who and British Media Convention. If you like British TV and movies, this is the con for you. There used to be a large Stargate presence (the 'gate' part of TimeGate), but that has tapered off as there s no new Stargate being produced. This is a great show to talk Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes, James Bond, Space 1999, Robin Hood, Hustle, Orphan Black, Torchwood, you name it.

With The ESO Network crew in 2015.
I'll be joining already announced guests Nicholas Briggs (the voice of the Daleks, the Cybermen, and the Judoon on Doctor Who), Jason Haigh-Ellery (executive  producer of Big Finish Productions), Graeme Harper (accomplished director), Terry Molloy (actor known for Doctor Who's Davros), Stephen la Riviere (executive  producer of Thunderbirds 1965), Louis Robinson (singer/songwriter/storyteller), Mark Maddox (award winning artist), Anthony Taylor (author), RetroTVJoshua Wilson (associate editor for Mad Norwegian Press), Courtland Lewis (philosopher/historian/author/musician), PixelWho (artist Nathan Skreslet and manger Ly Cao), Lt. Moxie Magnus (writer/entertainer), The ESO Network (podcasters), with more guests to be announced in the coming days and weeks.
My table at TimeGate 2015.

Timegate will be held on May 27 - 29, 2016 in Atlanta, GA. http://timegatecon.org

EARTH STATION ONE EPISODE 229 – “SIN CITY 2: A DAME TO KILL FOR” MOVIE REVIEW

Walk down the right back alley in Old Town and you can find anything. Even the ESO crew. Sometimes that means podcasting. Sometimes it means killing a whole lot of people. This week, it means Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, the award-winning author Bobby Nash, and Alex Autrey go to the theater with their eyes open and come out thinking about a dame. Meanwhile, TimeGate's Alan Siler puts his rubber tubing, gas, saw, gloves, cuffs, razor wire, hatchet, Gladys, and his mitts up against The Geek Seat. Plus, the usual Rants, Raves, Khan Report, and Shout Outs. Podcasting is just like death in Sin City. It always wins.

X marks the spot
Fighting for a world that fears them, the ESO crew battles through the latest installment of the X-Men franchise. Professor Mike Faber, “Magneto” Mike Gordon, the “Best there is at what he does and what he does is award-winning” Bobby Nash, Ashley “Kitty” Bergner, and Sentinel creator Dr. Van Allen Plexico jump back and forward in time to witness a crucial point in the X-Men timeline and whether or not the team should continue. We also tie writer D.A. Adams to The Geeks Seat, where even his Brotherhood of Dwarves can’t save him! Plus, we sit down with the cast of the upcoming Enoch the Traveler series headed by Torchwood's Gareth David Lloyd and share more of our experiences at TimeGate 2014 in the Khan Report. TIMEGATE 2014 CONVENTION WRAP UP!

The 1st time I've ever worn
a Doctor Who scarf.
It was a thrill to be a guest at TimeGate over the weekend, May 23 - 25, 2014. Timegate is one of my favorite cons. It is a busy convention with great panels, but still remains small enough to feel laid back with little pressure. I missed the con the last couple years due to other commitments so it was nice to return this year along with several of my Earth Station One podcast network cohorts.

There were the panels I appeared on over the weekend.

SATURDAY
10 am - Project NORTHERN LIGHTS SitRep (Aaron Dunne, Mike Faber, Bobby Nash, Debbie Viguie) We had a great crowd and lively discussion about all things Person of Interest. There’s a lot of love out there for this fantastic television series.

I love how this shot came out.
The reflected sun adds a lot to it.
11 am - Marvel At The Movies (Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, Adam Throne, Jen Hartshorn) We talked Marvel movies, TV, and of course, the comics. There was even a giveaway as one audience member walked away with a Spider-man DVD.

1 pm - Writing and the Media (Diana Botsford, Debbie Viguie, Bobby Nash) This was my favorite panel of the weekend. Not only did I get to talk about writing, but my co-panelists, Diana and Debbie, were great fun to chat with. You should definitely seek out their work. You won’t be disappointed.

4 pm - Arrow: The Second Shot (Aaron Dunne, Mike Faber, Bobby Nash, Debbie Viguie) This was a rather lively discussion and I loved it. Season 2’s changes have certainly split fandom.

Talking Elementary w/Louis Robinson
SUNDAY
2 pm - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Welcome To Level 7 (Aaron Dunne, Lee Martindale, Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, John Rabon) Another one of those shows that sparks much debate. Love it or hate it, there seemed to be no middle ground when it comes to talking about Marvel'’ Agents of SH.I.E.L.D.

3 pm - Elementary (Terri Sears, Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, Louis Robinson) I had the great joy or talking about Elementary, and Sherlock Holmes in general, with Louis Robinson and the audience. We also veered off topic a bit to talk about NCIS, which was also entertaining. This was my second favorite panel of the weekend.

My favorite pic from the weekend. Thanks to Nikki Rau Baker for this one.
My table O' books.
Being behind the table and flying solo at the con, I didn’t get to move around too much. I did get to spend a few minutes talking with guests Doctor Geek himself, Scott Viguie, JC and Rita De La Torre, Monsterama's Anthony Taylor, Mark Maddox, and several cool folks stopped by my table to say hello. I know I’ll forget someone so I won’t try to write down everyone who stopped by, but it was great chatting with you all. I didn’t get the opportunity to talk with Stargate’s Paul McGillion or Torchwood’s Gareth David Lloyd, but I did see both of them around the con floor. A highlight of the con for me was having Doctor Who’s Terrence Dicks stop by to check out my books.

All in all, I had a fantastic weekend at TimeGate. I’d like to thank Alan, Susan, and the rest of the crew for taking such good care of me this weekend. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

I apologize for the crappy photos I took. My camera's phone was not cooperating as it should.
