BOBBY'S MOVIE REVIEW: POLAR

Netflix's new movie, Polar starring Mads Mikkelsen was quite a thrill-ride. Very much an over the top action thriller. Doctor Who's Matt Lucas is also quite enjoyable in his villainous role. I admit, I am not familiar with the Dark Horse Comics series this is based on, Polar by Victor Santos, but I'll have to give it a look. 4 Stars. An over the top, violent movie, with a few twists and turns I did not expect. Definitely not for the kiddies though.

Everyone knows that dragons are badass, but for some reason Hollywood has rarely done a good job of capitalizing on their badass-ness. One of the seminal early 80s HBO standards was Matthew Robbins' Dragonslayer, a film set to cash in on the fantasy craze of the day, with a little Mark Hamill-ness thrown in by way of

a young Peter MacNicol.

Featuring gorgeous locations and tremendous production design, the film failed to become the blockbuster that had been hoped for and even today hasn't managed to achieve even a cult status. In a tribute to the awesomeness of Dragon Con and of dragons, the Irregulars delve into Dragonslayer and offer up their thoughts as to what, if anything, went wrong.

WONDER WOMAN NOVELIZATION ANNOUNCED!

Not really news about me or my books, but I am so excited for my friend, Nancy Holder. It was announced today that she is writing the novelization of the upcoming Wonder Woman movie for Titan Books. I think that's a perfect fit and am very excited for her and to read the book and watch the movie. Nancy and I have been friends for years and have worked on a few assorted Domino Lady stories together during that time. She's a great writer and friend and I hope everyone will pick this up when it hits bookstore shelves in June. Learn more about the novel here.

HORRORPHILIA NAMES CAMP MASSACRE (FORMERLY FAT CHANCE) ONE OF 2015'S TOP SLASHER FILMS.

HORRORPHILIA ranked Camp Massacre #2 on their best slashers of 2015 list and I couldn't be happier. Big thanks to Jason at Horrorphilia for the review. We had so much fun making this movie. The cast and crew really bonded while making this movie. There were a lot of laughs in between swatting mosquitoes and other bugs. My favorite memory is from the scene with all of us together in the cabin playing drunk.

THE GEEK OUT BEFORE STAR WARS!

I have seen the new Star Wars The Force Awakens movie and I will not be spoiling anything here, but I did enjoy the movie very much and will definitely need to see it again.

I did have a special personal moment just before watching Star Wars The Force Awakens last night that I wanted to share.

The new Jungle Book movie

One of the trailers played before the film was for the new Jungle Book film. When I saw Star Wars (in those days before it was called A New Hope) as a kid, my parents took me to see it at the 85 drive in theater as part of a double feature. The movie that played before Star Wars was The Jungle Book. It's one of those personal moments that doesn't really impact anyone else, but having that trailer play before the movie felt absolutely right to me.

I love it when things like that happen.

I'm not a big toy collector, but I just could not pass these up, not when they're based on my favorite movie... JAWS.
