THE WRAP UP - TIGERCON!

I attended the first, of what I hope are many more to come, TIGERCON, an all-ages event held at Tucker High School in Tucker, GA on Friday, May 3rd from 1:30 - 5:30. During school hours, (1:30 - 3:30), the event was or students only and I answered a lot of questions about writing, publishing, and various questions about creativity and the creative process. It was an absolute amazing day.

Things slowed down for the after school part and the panels did not happen because of the low attendance, but I think the students had a ball. I know I did. It was amazing.

A big thank you to Adam Minott, Roberta Barber, and the Tucker high school librarians and teachers  for hosting the event and for inviting me to be part of it.

THE WRAP UP-- DCPL AUTHOR EVENT 2017!

I was honored to be a guest for the first in what I hope will become an annual event, the 2017 DCPL Author Expo. The Expo was held on Saturday, August 19th in Tucker, Georgia at the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library. It was my first time visiting this particular library and I had a great time. I will definitely have to return for a visit.

The Author Expo featured a rather large selection of local talent with books ranging from spiritual to children's literature, fantasy to sci fi, mystery to religious, self help to crime fiction.

There were no panels, but each author was given a two minute window to introduce themselves and their work. I got a nice life when I opened my time with "Hi. My name is Bobby Nash and I kill people for a living... in books." I also had a moment to take a couple of questions from the audience before my time was up.

All in all, I had a fun time, sold a few books (Hollis P.I. was the biggest mover at this event), met some incredibly talented men and women, and showed off my books and passed out business cards with purchase links for those who might like to pick up a book later. I even set up a couple of author interviews and book reviews out of it. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

A big thank you to Teresa Totten and the staff at the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library, and the DeKalb County Public Library system for having me and for putting on such a fun event.

Let's do it again next year.

LO' THERE SHALL COME A CON TOUR 2017! ATHENS LIBRARY INDIE AUTHOR MARKETPLACE AND FAIR ADDED!

The Lo' There Shall Come A Con Tour 2017 rolls on! Join me at the Indie Author Marketplace and Book Fair on Saturday, February 18th from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Athens-Clarke County Library in Athens, GA. A fun time will be had.

I will be doing a reading along with a Q and A session and will have my books on hand and available for purchase for those interested.

About the Indie Author Marketplace/Book Fair:
The Indie Author marketplace has burgeoned in recent times. Never before in publishing history have so many hopeful and aspiring writers and authors had the opportunity and resources to self-publish. Traditional publishing houses, the ‘Big Six’, are very limited in the types of books they market and sell, thus blocking hopeful authors from ever publishing and receiving the added publicity in the marketplace.

Why do Indie Authors matter? All of us have stories to tell. Talented writers find themselves frustrated finding a good literary agent, or finding a large

publishing house that will accept their manuscripts. With the ability to self-publish, and work hard to get their books into the hands of avid readers, authors are finding a new niche in the publishing world. Small publishing companies are also on the rise. The Athens-Clarke County Library will host Athens’ first ever Indie Author Marketplace & Fair on Saturday, February 18th, from 11 AM to 3 PM. During that time, we invite all book readers and lovers to visit our local author booths and peruse the abundance of books and talk to the authors about the stories behind those books.

Following the marketplace there will be a three-author symposium from 3:30—4:30 PM. The authors will discuss their experiences with self-publishing. A reception will take place at 4:30 PM. Read Local! Support our local authors!

I hope to see you there.

THE MANY DEATH'S OF DOMINO LADY!

Did my writing at the library yesterday. Just needed to get out of the house. Sometimes a change of scenery helps. I worked on a script for an upcoming Domino Lady team-up comic for Moonstone Books. You can see a little tease of the day's writing above.

Sadly, not a single book of mine is housed here in my local library. Kinda bummed by that. No love from the local bookstore either. Ah, well.

THE WRAP UP: GEORGIA LITERARY FESTIVAL

Van Allen Plexico, Andrea Judy, Sean Taylor, Bobby Nash, Barry Reese
I had great fun hanging out with writer pals Sean Taylor, Andrea Judy, Van Allen Plexico, Barry Reese, Alex Hughes, and more at the Georgia Literary Festival on November 9th in Milledgeville, GA. You can learn more about the Georgia Literary Festival here and here.

Here were the panels I was part of during the event.
12:00 pm: Thriller Track: Rise of the New Pulp- Sean Taylor, Van Plexico, Andrea Judy, Bobby Nash, and Barry Reese in Georgia College Library Information Technology Center

1:00 pm: Thriller Track: Blending Genres- The Hardboiled P.I. in Different Eras- Alex Hughes, Sean Taylor, and Bobby Nash in Georgia College Museum Education Room

3:00 pm: Thriller Track: The Graphic World of Comic Books- Bobby Nash, and Sean Taylor in Mary Vinson Memorial Library Children’s Theater

4:00 pm: Thriller Track: Georgia (and Murder) On My Mind- Alex Hughes, Barry Reese, Bobby Nash, and Andrea Judy in Old Governor’s Mansion Education Room

Some great discussions of writing and books, which I always enjoy. The crowd wasn’t quite what we hoped for, but everyone who came to the panels had a good time. The comic panel had the best attendance of the panels I attended.

I want to give special thanks to Barry Reese for inviting me to be part of the festival and for taking such good care of us. I had a great time.

We also took a few photos. Click on image for a larger view.

This was one of the walls in the museum where one of the panels was held.
I love it.

Sean performed a one man play: Gene Simmons' Barney. :)
