Big thanks to VoyageATL for their spotlight interview on me. We discuss my writing journey, the ups and downs, pitfalls and pratfalls, successes and failures, and what it's like to be a writer in Atlanta. You can read it here: http://voyageatl.com/interview/meet-bobby-nash-ben-books-bethlehem-ga
As always, I had a great time at the Atlanta Comic Convention. This event is held four times a year, this one on Sunday, October 7, 2018 in Atlanta, GA. The con runs from 11 am - 5 pm.
ACC is always a fun time for me. I have been at this show since the beginning, 24 or 25 years ago and have only missed a handful in that time. Wes and Dave Tillander put on a fun day with interesting guests and vendors with great bargains. This is a great place to shop for comics, toys, and other collectibles.
Sadly, I did not get a lot of photos this time out, including none of me at my table.
Bobby Nash's SNOW TRAPPED from BEN Books is now available for purchase in paperback at www.amazon.com/dp/1723553581 and on Kindle at www.amazon.com/dp/B07FTWFBVG where it can be read for FREE with your Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Trapped in a skyscraper and under heavy fire!
That’s not even Snow’s biggest surprise today!
This is one twist he never saw coming!
After a shocking discovery, the investigation into Miguel Ortega and Daniella Cordoza heats up, Abraham Snow calls in a favor from his former handler, Elizabeth Walker. She has agreed to share information on Ortega and Cordoza and deal with the hired guns after the bounty placed on Snow’s head.
A team of thieves picks the wrong day to break into the data storage blacksite hidden in an average office building. They enter the building through the lobby restaurant. They say timing is everything. Unfortunately, for the thieves, they picked the same building where Walker and Snow are meeting and they don’t take kindly to having their reunion interrupted. It’s time to saddle up and yippeekiya one more time.
SNOW TRAPPED is the fourth book in the continuing adventures of Abraham Snow.

One great weekend!
Two fantastic events!
Many talented authors.
I was able to head down to SCAD Atlanta for the 2018 SCADShow aTVFest for the panels for Ash Vs. Evil Dead on Friday and Black Lightning on Saturday. Both panels were fun and we got to see upcoming episodes. The first episode of Ash vs. Evil Dead season 3 (premiered Feb. 25 on Starz) and Black Lightning episode 4 (airs Tuesday, Feb. 7 on The CW). Both panels then had Q and A sessions with the casts. It was a fun time.
Apologies for the less than stellar photos. All I had was my camera phone and I wasn't close to the stage at any point. A fun time was had. I highly recommend both shows. There are more photos on my social media pages.
We missed out on the snow that blanketed the metro Atlanta area on Friday. On Saturday morning, we finally got a small amount of snow. Sadly, it did not last long. Oh, well. Bobby
Next week kicks off DragonCon. Are you ready? I'll have a table in the Comic & Pop Art Alley at America's Mart #2, 3rd floor. I'll be at table 1G (same spot as last year) during the day. At night, I'll either be at the Westin Bar or bouncing around the hotels looking at cool cosplay.
Panels:
Saturday at 7 p.m. - More than Gears: The Neo-Pulp and Dieselpunk Author Roundtable Location: Augusta - Sheraton (Length: 1 Hour)
Saturday at 8:30 p.m. - Nectar of the Gods Location: Embassy CD - Hyatt (Length: 1 Hour) Panel details are in the DC app and at www.bobbynash.com.
The Lo' There Shall Come A Con Tour 2017 rolls on! Join me at the Indie Author Marketplace and Book Fair on Saturday, February 18th from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at theAthens-Clarke County Libraryin Athens, GA. A fun time will be had.
I will be doing a reading along with a Q and A session and will have my books on hand and available for purchase for those interested.
About the Indie Author Marketplace/Book Fair: The Indie Author marketplace has burgeoned in recent times. Never before in publishing history have so many hopeful and aspiring writers and authors had the opportunity and resources to self-publish. Traditional publishing houses, the ‘Big Six’, are very limited in the types of books they market and sell, thus blocking hopeful authors from ever publishing and receiving the added publicity in the marketplace.
Why do Indie Authors matter? All of us have stories to tell. Talented writers find themselves frustrated finding a good literary agent, or finding a large
publishing house that will accept their manuscripts. With the ability to self-publish, and work hard to get their books into the hands of avid readers, authors are finding a new niche in the publishing world. Small publishing companies are also on the rise. The Athens-Clarke County Library will host Athens’ first ever Indie Author Marketplace & Fair on Saturday, February 18th, from 11 AM to 3 PM. During that time, we invite all book readers and lovers to visit our local author booths and peruse the abundance of books and talk to the authors about the stories behind those books. Following the marketplace there will be a three-author symposium from 3:30—4:30 PM. The authors will discuss their experiences with self-publishing. A reception will take place at 4:30 PM. Read Local! Support our local authors!
The Lo' There Shall Come A Con Tour 2017! train keeps a rolling! I will be a guest at JordanCon on April 21 - 23, 2017 in Atlanta, GA. This will be my first time as a guest at this show, but I've heard good things. The con's guest list is quite impressive with a lot of great writers attending. I'm honored to be part of it.
JordanCon is a fantasy literature convention founded in honor of the late author, Robert Jordan. JordanCon features eight tracks of simultaneous programming, a Dealers' Hall, gaming, an Art Show featuring original art by a variety of artists, and charity events benefiting the Mayo Clinic and other charities. Their 2017 Guests of Honor are Charles E. Gannon and Stephen Hickman. See the full guest list here.
This was one of my best years at Dragon Con yet. I know I say that every year, but somehow this amazing convention seems to outdo itself each and every year and this one was no different. This year marked Dragon Con's 30th Anniversary and my 28th Dragon Con. Looks like I discovered it two years late, but my parents wouldn't let me attend anything like a convention until I graduated high school. In 1989, that happened and I've not looked back. My 2nd convention was my first Dragon Con.
Dragon Con 2016 was a year of change with a new building added, changes made to where certain programming tracks were located, the parade was shown on TV (thank you, CW 69), and there was a boost in attendance by about 7,000 people.
It's a Bobby sandwich with my pals
Van Allen Plexico and Bobby Politte.
For the past few years, I was at the show as an attending professional. That meant I wasn't a full guest, but I was there and I did many panels and events. It was a fun, full, exhausting good time. This year, I was surprised to be invited back as a guest of the Comics and Pop Art Track, which meant I was given a table in Artist Alley. I still did panels, but far fewer than in years past.
My 2016 panel schedule looked like this:
-------------------
Title: Playing in Someone Else's Sandbox - Writing Licensed Fiction
Description: It’s not uncommon for an author to continue the legacy of a universe that already exists. In this panel, authors who have written licensed fiction will share details on how they’ve survived working within existing canon.
Time: Friday 1:00 p.m. Location: 204 A - Mart2 (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Andrew E.C. Gaska, Bryan J.L. Glass, Bobby Nash)
This was my favorite panel of the weekend, especially once Bryan J.L. Glass joined us. He's a funny guy and had us laughing in hysterics with his story about writing a Thor tie in for Burger King. I'd not met Bryan or Andrew before, but both were nice guys. The panel was moderated by my friend, Jami Jones, who did a great job keeping us on track.
-------------------
Title: Graphic Novels--Ride the Tide
Description: The fiction world is exploding with graphic novels. Take this opportunity to hear what successful writers in this genre recommend to help new writers break into the field.
Time: Sunday 2:30 p.m. Location: Embassy CD - Hyatt (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Chandra Free, Bobby Nash, Andy Runton, Lee Martindale)
Always fun talking comics. I had a great time chatting with Andy and Chandra about how they go about putting their comic book stories together. Big fun and a fairly large crowd.
-------------------
Title: Secret History: Bet You Didn’t Know It Happened That Way!
Description: Our alternate history authors and experts describe that variety of tales where the public and world at large have no idea what really happened behind the scenes. Many authors have written in the sub-genre. Classic short stories and novels will be discussed.
Time: Monday 1:00 p.m. Location: 204 J - Mart2 (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Bobby Nash (Moderator), Anthony Francis, Eric Flint, Kacey Ezell)
I moderated this panel, which means most of the time I shut up and let the experts talk. This was a fun panel and the first time I've moderated a panel without actually being on the panel. An interesting experience.

Representative John Lewis signs March.
The rest of the time during the day was spent at my table on the third floor of America's Mart Building 2 in the Comics and Pop Art track, which is run by Thom Trainor and his team. They do a great job taking care of us and keeping Artist Alley running smoothly. Over the weekend I met a lot of people unfamiliar with my work who picked up books, saw lots of friends, did some panels, took lots of photos, met some talented creators, checked out the cool costumes and, most importantly, had a fantastic time. What more could one ask for? This is truly my favorite con of the year and I hope they have me back again next year.
Click on Read More to see all of the photos I took at Dragon Con 2016. Also, search social media using #Dragoncon or #Dragoncon2016 for more photos from the event.
I'm excited to announce that I will be returning to DragonCon as a guest in 2016 for the convention's 30th anniversary celebration. In addition to doing panels and events, you'l be able to find me and my books int he Comics and Pop Art Alley this year. Although I have been at Dragon Con each year, this will be my first time as a guest in about 5 or 6 years. I have been at the show as an Attending Professional the past few years. More news as it develops, including my panel schedule as the
convention date draws closer. Check out the full guest line-up at www.dragoncon.org. More guests are still being added. See you there. Bobby
I am way behind on getting stuff posted. My apologies for that. As always, Dragon Con was amazing. This is easily my favorite con of the year for many reasons. I have been a part of Dragon Con longer than any other con. This was my 25th Dragon Con. In addition to being a fun con to work, it’s almost like a family reunion of sorts. There are some fantastic people that I only see once a year in Atlanta and that happens at this con.
This year’s Dragon Con took place, as usual, over Labor Day weekend in Atlanta, GA. I arrived on Thursday, August 28th and left on Monday, September 1st. Apologies in advance for the photo quality. All I had was my phone and it does not take the best photos.
Here’s how my panel schedule broke down this year.
-------------------
Title: Ghostbusters: 30th Anniversary of Mass Hysteria
Description: This panel will remind us of when you tried to drill a hole in your head.
Time: Thu 10:00 pm Location: M303-M304 - Marriott (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Dr. Scott Viguié, Debbie Viguié, Bobby Nash)
I wasn’t expecting much out of a Thursday night panel, but I think we were all surprised by how many people showed up to listen to the panelists talk Ghostbusters. The room was full, standing room only and they were a lively bunch. Definitely a great way to kick off the con.
The Ghostbuster crowd as they started to file in. Soon: standing room only.
-------------------
Title: The Many Faces of Pulp
Description: Pulp Fiction has many faces. From gritty crime fiction to even the deepest depths of space or the far-flung future. This discussion covers it all.
Time: Fri 04:00 pm Location: Augusta 3 - Westin (Length: 1 Hour)
Moderator / MC for panel
(Tentative Panelists: Van Allen Plexico, James R. Tuck, John G. Hartness, Cherie Priest, party crasher: Andrea Judy. Bobby Nash: moderator)
This was a fun one. We talked about our pulpy interests and fielded questions from the audience. This is a great group of panelists. We were never at a loss for words and there were a lot of laughs.
Pulpsters: James R. Tuck Jr., Bobby Nash, Van Allen Plexico
-------------------
Title: Podcasting Authors Roundtable
Description: Join a roundtable discussion of working writers who utilize podcasting to distribute and promote their work.
Time: Sat 10:00 am Location: 203 - Hilton (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Bobby Nash, Dr. Pamela L. Gay, Jay Smith, Michael Stackpole, Scott Sigler)
Podcasting Authors. I was talking about doing the audio for Ghost Gal here.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this panel. I learned a lot from the panelists about the way they use podcasting to get their books and stories out there. The panel was live streamed on-line and you can watch it yourself by clicking here. Or watch it below.
-------------------
Title: Airwolf: Nothing Is More Airwolf Than Airwolf
Description: On its 30th anniversary, explore the awesomeness of the high-tech 80s TV helicopter.
Time: Sat 02:30 pm Location: M303-M304 - Marriott (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Bobby Nash, J.C. De La Torre, Archangel)
This was another panel that surprised me with the size and excitement of the crowd. We even had 3 people cosplaying Airwolf characters, which was pretty darn cool. I recorded the podcast at the request of some international Airwolf fans on Facebook. You can listen to it here.
The new Airwolf flight crew.
-------------------
Title: Reading: Bobby Nash
Time: Sat 04:00 pm Location: Marietta - Hyatt (Length: 1 Hour)
As much as I like to talk, I am not a fan of reading my work aloud to groups. In this case, I managed to avoid reading because there were only 2 who showed up and we had a nice discussion about writing and books instead, which I really enjoyed.
I love this placard so much I asked if I could take it home with me.
-------------------
Title: Pulp Fiction
Description: Pulp has made an extraordinary comeback in recent years. We discuss what and why.
Time: Sat 05:30 pm Location: Embassy A-B - Hyatt (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Bobby Nash, Van Allen Plexico, Milton J Davis)
Two pulp panels this year. Both Van and Milton are friends of mine so we had a great time riffing off one another as we talked about various topics, including our books, the tropes of pulp stories, research, and how technology impacts the way we tell stories. We had a great audience and they had some really good questions. I believe Van taped this panel for an upcoming episode of his White Rocket Podcast. I’ll let you know when it becomes available. No photo from this panel, unfortunately.
-------------------
Title: Autograph Sessions
Time: Sun 01:00 pm Location: International Hall South - Marriott (Length: 1 Hour)
Set up my table and sold books for an hour. Met some interesting people. It was a fun time. Wish I could have been set up longer than an hour, but it was a great hour.
Wanna buy some books?
-------------------
Title: Building a Podcast Network from Scratch
Description: Ever though of building a podcasting network? We'll discuss the pros & cons of building a network, talk growing pains, and share success stories.
Time: Sun 02:30 pm Location: 203 - Hilton (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Bobby Nash, Michael Gordon, Mike Faber)
Building a podcast network panel.
I joined my ESO Network co-hosts to talk about podcasting. It was a fun panel and the only panel I got to share with Mike Faber and Mike Gordon over the weekend. As with all of the podcasting track panels, this one was live streamed on-line and you can watch it if you click here. Or you can watch it below.
-------------------
Title: "V-Wars: Vampires Everywhere!"
Description: Behind the scenes of Jonathan Maberry's V-Wars universe.
Time: Sun 07:00 pm Location: Peachtree 1-2 - Westin (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Jonathan Maberry, James A. Moore, and James R. Tuck)
I was recently added to IDW’s V-Wars anthology so V-Wars head honcho Jonathan Maberry invited me to join the panel. Scott Sigler and Keith R A DeCandido were also on the panel. We talked all things V-Wars from the creation of the shared world to the anthology series all of the panelists are part of to the comic book series, upcoming TV series, and board game. This was another fun panel with a great group of panelists and great audience participation.
-------------------
Title: Six Million Dollar Man: 40 Years in Slow Motion
Description: Honoring the Bigfoot-size superstars of 1970s TV.
Time: Mon 08:30 am Location: M303-M304 - Marriott (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Alan Gratz, Bobby Nash, Dr. Scott Viguié)
My final panel of the weekend was also my earliest morning of the con. I was a bit surprised that so many others were up so early for an 8:30 a.m. panel, but we had a great discussion of all things Bionic, including a touching story from Dr. Scott Viguié.
Talking Six Million Dollar Man early on a Monday morning.
Also, during the convention was the Annual ESO Network Meet ‘n Greet. This informal event was held next to the pool at the Sheraton in concert with Pin-Ups By The Pool. We had a nice turn out and some cool conversations as we sweltered in the Georgia summer heat.
Meet the ESO Network
At the ESO Meet 'n Greet. Or, as we liked to call it, The ESO Sauna.
On Sunday night at 10 pm I met up with the ESO crew for another annual tradition as we recorded an episode of The Earth Station One Podcast live at the con. You can hear it here.
ESO LIVE at Dragon Con!
I met several new people at the con as well as talked with friends and colleagues (far too numerous to try and mention them all, but you know who you are), did a little shopping, checked out some fantastic costumes, and just generally geeked out with about 80,000 or more of my closest friends. All in all, Dragon Con 2014 was another great year.
