NIGHTVEIL: CRISIS AT THE CROSSROADS OF INFINITY IS NOW AVAILABLE!

New Pulp publisher, Pro Se Productions has announced the release of my novel, Nightveil: Crisis at the Crossroads of Infinity. This is definitely a dream come true project for me. I have loved the character of Nightveil since I first read her adventures in ACComics back in the late 1980's in high school (yeah. I 'm old). I remember saying that I wanted to write this character one day. Well, it took a little over 30 years, but it finally happened and I'm thrilled.

Huge thanks to Tommy Hancock and Pro Se Productions for helping make this dream a reality. I’d also like to thank Bill Black and AC Comics for allowing me to play with their amazing characters in this novel. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

Now this made my day.

Bill Black, publisher of AC Comics posted this on Facebook today and it blew my mind. As you may know, I wrote a novel featuring the AC Comics character, Nightveil for Pro Se Productions, who has licensed them. That book should be out in November, I believe. Any time I write a licensed character, there is a bit of nervousness that sets in. These are the people who know, and in some cases, created the character(s) so they know them well. I don't want to be the guy who writes them poorly so that nervousness I mentioned sets in. Then, I saw this...

Bill Black wrote: "Just read the BOBBY NASH novel NIGHTVEIL: CRISIS AT THE CROSSROADS OF INFINITY soon to be published from Pro Se. SUPERB! Whatta movie this would make! FEMFORCE fans will love it. It is ALL Nightveil with a lot of LAURA WRIGHT thrown in. This pic has nothing to do with it but it sorta fits. Can't describe the story line. That would be telling! Read it! You'll love it!"

Whew! I'm thrilled that he liked it. That's a load off my shoulders.

Now, I just have to deal with the nervousness of if the fans/readers like it.

Nightveil is a character that I have been itching to write ever since I read her first adventure back in the  mid-80's when I was reading Americomics in high school. It's taken almost 30 years, but I finally got the chance. Proof positive that dreams do come true. Now, I keep waiting on that Fantastic Four, Captain America, and Thor writing dream to come true. Any day now, I'm sure. Ha! Ha!

Over at his blog, artist Jeff Austin shared a couple pages of art he drew from a story I wrote that featured the adventures of a super-powered character code-named Onyx. Onyx and her team would go on amazing adventures, generally with a supernatural or pulpy theme. She was part Wonder Woman, part Indiana Jones and I had a blast writing a four issue mini series for the character.

Below is the script for these two pages. I can’t believe I had 8 panels on page 1. That’s something I would never even think about doing today. In an odd coincidence, I recently used elements of the Onyx plot as part of a story I wrote for one of Moonstone Books’ upcoming anthologies featuring pulp hero, The Spider. No good ideas are ever wasted.

Jeff and I did re-team on the character a little later for a comic strip for a local kid’s magazine (mid to late 90's, maybe?). This time I handled the writing and the pencils and Jeff served as inker, although embellisher might be a better word. My pencils were very rough. Jeff decided to leave the strip so I wrapped up the story a little faster than I had originally planned, but I think it was a fun story. I love comic strips and would love to do more. If only I was a better artist.
