THE WRAP UP-- SC COMICON 2018!

Bobby with Gotham's Maggie Geha
and ESO podcast's Mike Faber.
Sorry for the delay in getting this one posted. It's been a hectic week.

Last weekend (March 24 - 25th), I was a guest at SC Comicon in Greenville, SC. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite cons of the year. This was the 5th year and it was another great one. I was set up in Artist Alley at table #522. There were great crowds all weekend and I even managed to sell a book or two. Always a nice bonus. Another nice bonus was getting to meet, briefly as we passed each other in the green room, Carey Elwes and Adrian Paul.

I wasn't at my best, physically. A minor accident had knocked my hip and back out of alignment. Painful, but easily corrected by a
Robert and Michele Young
our most gracious hosts.
visit to the chiropractor. The unwanted side effect was a flare up of Sciatica, which runs the length of your right leg from your butt to your foot. Not excruciatingly painful, but a constant pain that kept me off my feet most of the weekend so I didn't get to walk around or shop as much as I would have wanted. Apologies to those I did not get a chance to see.

As always, Robert and Michele Young and their staff did a bang up job taking care of us and putting on a wonderful event. There was also a reception at the Alex Ross museum exhibit. I had seen it before, but it was worth a return visit. If you're in Greenville, SC between now and June 3rd, I highly recommend it.

On Sunday, I filled in for the ailing Mike Gordon, who was unable to make the con due to being ill, moderating the Meggie Geha panel with
Sanford Greene's
convention book
cover art.
Mike Faber. Mike and Mike are the hosts of the Earth Station One podcast and great guys. You should give their show a listen. Maggie portrayed the second iteration on Poison Ivy on FOX's Gotham and she was a great guest and had a lot of cool stories. I believe Mike is planning to release the recording of it on ESO's Patreon Page.

To those who came out, stopped by the table or the panel, bought something, or just said hi, I appreciate it and I hope you had a great con.

Let's do it again next year.

SC Comicon 2019 dates are March 9th - 10th.

Not final cover.
After a few days of being Bobby Nash: Weekend Word Warrior, I'm back to being Bobby Nash: Weekday Word Writer.

Thankfully, I love both jobs. I'm back in the office today working on things.

Look for an SC Comicon wrap up, updates and revised release date for Snow Trapped, and some BEN Books ebook news this week. It's going to be a busy one.

Stay tuned.

DEAL ALERT-- DEMONSLAYER: VENGEANCE #1 (BOBBY'S 1ST PROFESSIONAL COMIC BOOK WORK)

Cover Art: Andy Park
I ran across someone selling a copy of Demonslayer: Vengeance #1 on Amazon today for cover price ($3.99) or make them an offer. This was my first professional comic book story and isn't all that easy to find these days. If you're interested, head on over to www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XD2MT12 and check it out. It looks like the seller (who is not me, by the way) has only 1 copy on hand.

I do have a couple of copies of this issue and other Demonslayer comics that I ran across recently and will have them at SC Comicon next weekend.

LO, THERE SHALL COME A CON TOUR!

On the road again... just can't wait to get on the road again...
My 2017 convention/appearance tour kicks off in 2 weeks with ACC, my hometown show. Here's where I'll be through the end of April. I will probably add more to this as I go along. Keep checking the Convention/Appearances tab above to keep up to date.

Taking a cue from my buddy, J.R. Mounts, I've decided to name my tour this year. I'm calling it the LO, THERE SHALL COME A CON TOUR! out of respect to all those old comic covers I love.

SC COMICON WRAP UP!

My table at SC Comicon. #TeamCap
SC Comicon 2016 is now in the rear view and I've returned from a fun-filled exhausting con weekend in Greenville, SC.

No surprise, but I had an incredible time at SC Comicon. Once again, Robert Young and his SC Comicon/Borderlands team put on an incredible show that drew an even bigger crowd than last year. The guest list was amazing and I loved seeing all the costumes and families in attendance. There were a lot of really cool kids who ventured by my table. My table neighbors for the weekend were Frank Cho and Meghan Hetrick, both of whom were very nice and stayed extremely busy the entire weekend. As always, it's great to see friends at the con as well and this one was no different. Because I know I will forget someone and don't want to do that, I'll not sport a big long list of names, but it's always
great catching up with creative friends and seeing their latest work. There was also a fun trip to Papa's and Beers after the con on Saturday that was loads of fun. If you've not attended SC Comicon, I highly recommend you make plans for next year's show. Dates haven't been released yet, but they should be released soon.

All in all, another wonderful #SCComicon is in the books. I had a wonderful time and look forward to SC Comicon 2017, bigger and badder, but we'll talk about that after Robert gets a week or two of sleep.

Thanks again for having me. I had a wonderful time.

Earth Station One Podcast Episode 308 – The Work of Carmine Infantino

I visited my pals on the station this week as we got together to talk about the career of comic legend, Carmine Infantino on episode 308 of the Earth Station One podcast. Give it a listen here.

The secret origin of the current success of DC’s TV properties is that they are all very much inspired by the Silver Age of comics and one of the most influential artists of that time is the great Carmine Infantino. Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, Kevin Eldridge, and award-winning author Bobby Nash showcase the highlights of his illustrious career. Also, the Geek Seat goes global and reaches Italian pulp and fantasy writer Davide Mana. Plus, Robert Young updates us on the upcoming SC Comicon in the Khan Report. All this, along with the usual Rants, Raves, Geek Girls
Take, and Shout Outs!

EARTH STATION ONE EPISODE 215 – GO, GO, GODZILLA!

Art: Mark Maddox
On this monster-size episode, the ESO crew assembles a team of G-Fans to discuss the return of the King of the Kaiju! Are Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, the award-winning author Bobby Nash, Ashley Bergner, Mark Holmes, Mark Maddox, and Timothy Price enough to take on the gigantic beast? One thing’s for sure, we’re gonna need a bigger Geek Seat! Since Godzilla won’t fit in our current chair, we strap musician/creator J.R. Mounts in for some Scairy Tales. Friends of the Station James Palmer and Thomas Deja stop by to promote their new project, Betrayal on Monster Earth. Plus, coverage of the SC Comicon in the Khan Report. If that weren’t enough, we also review the season finales of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Person of Interest, and Arrow. And Shout Outs!

ESO is the best there is at what we do, bub.
And what we do isn’t very pretty.

It’s that time again, folks. Next week, the ESO crew heads back to the theater once again to review the latest installment of the X-Men franchise with X-Men: Days of Future Past. Plus, we’ll see how well it holds up to the original comic book story it is based upon. Also, as The ESO Network of shows winds down from another fantastic TimeGate convention, we look back over the highlights from the show. Plus, ESO welcomes author D.A. Adams to the station where he braves The Geek Seat. You get all this plus the usual assortment of Rants and Raves, Khan Report, Doctor Geek’s Moment of Science, shout outs, and maybe even a surprise or two. You don’t want to miss this timey-whimey episode of the Earth Station One podcast!

THE SC COMICON WRAP UP!

SC Comicon (L-R): Peter Cutler, Mike Gordon, Bobby Nash, Chris Hamer

Bobby with Miracole Burns
I was a guest at the first ever SC Comicon in Greenville, SC last weekend, May 17 - 18, 2014, and I had an absolutely amazing time. First off, I want to offer a big ol’ hearty congratulations to Robert Young and his staff for taking such good care of us this weekend. I had a blast and look forward to next year. You know it’s a good sign when there’s a fairly lengthy line outside the convention center before it opens waiting to get inside. Robert also owns and operates Greenville's Borderlands Comics and Games, which is a fantastic store. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by and say hello. He was also kind enough to stop by the ESO podcast episode 214 to talk about the con. You can listen to it here.

DJ Spider as Black Canary
A special thanks to all the great folks who came out and said hello, stopped by the table, and an extra cheer to those who picked up some books. You guys are awesome and I appreciate it.

I also had a great time hanging out and/or chatting with some cool folks like Mike Gordon, Chris Hamer, Peter Cutler, J.R. Mounts, Chris Burns, Miracole Burns, DJ Spider, David Ballauer, Randy Bishop, Bradd Parton, Nikki Parton, Richard Morgan, Kelly Yates, and more. Please forgive me if I didn't mention you. It was by no means intentional. My brain turns to mush at the conclusion of conventions.

My table (#625)
I was set up at table #625 on Aisle 600 with New Legend Productions’ Mike Gordon and Peter Cutler on one side and Chris and Miracole Burns on the other. We had a fairly steady stream of people on the aisle and was never at a loss for someone to talk to, which is always nice because I do like to talk.

Comic fans, trust me, if you weren't here this time, you'll definitely want to be back next year. It was fun. On the book front, my big seller of the weekend was.... drum roll, please... The Big Bad: An Anthology of Evil and Lance Star: Sky Ranger, with Domino Lady coming in third.

You can learn more about SC Comicon here and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

I had a great time and look forward to returning in 2015 for SC Comicon’s second year.
