TODAY'S WRITING...

No. I can't call him Ant-Tony.
I had a nice evening/late night writing session. Added a couple thousand words to the current novel in process. I also did some research on fire ants, which was both fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Gee, wonder what I'll dream about tonight. Heh. #amwriting

THE WONDERS OF RESEARCH...

Our protagonist, Paul Sanderson finds himself in a hot spot. Will he survive?
Research can take you to odd places in your writing. I've been researching sun stroke for my current novel in progress, The Wraith: Sanderson of Metro. I've run across some interesting reading materials on the symptoms and first aid options for dealing with sun stroke, or heat stroke as it is also called. This is scary stuff, especially for our protagonist, who is beaten then dumped in the desert and left for dead.

I learn a lot doing writing research.

A FEW ITEMS OF NOTE...

A few items of note.

A month ago I posted the question to social media about how readers find out about new books to try from lesser-known authors and publishers. The #1 answer I received was word of mouth. I guess I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me to get people talking about my books. The #2 answer was Amazon, which I find strange as I usually go there looking for something specific, not to browse.

Thanks to all who took the time to weigh in with an answer when I posed the research question. It is appreciated.

Tonight, I recorded a fantastic interview with Ric Croxton and Art Sippo from The Book Cave. We talked about Alexandra Holzer's Ghost Gal: The Wild Hunt and went off on a few side tangents as well (shocker, I know!).

Look for the podcast to go live later this week.
I'll post links here when it's available.
I always have a great time when I visit The Book Cave.
Ric and Art are great hosts.

Earlier today I set up an author event. I'll be doing a Book Signing/Reading/Q and A Event at the Book Warehouse in Dunwoody, GA on Saturday, August 2, 2014 in Dunwoody, GA. Signing begins at 11:00 a.m. Learn more about Book Warehouse here and on Facebook.

It looks like a busy week of writing ahead of me so I'll cut it short tonight.

Have a great week.

And so it goes...

Let your fingers do the walking.

Not Actual Cover
I knocked out the first draft of the opening chapter of my Fight Card novel, "Barefoot Bones" today. I also did some research on the Korean War, which was interesting. I learned some neat facts. I also managed to accomplish some other writerly duties that didn't add to the day's word count, but were still important.

Tomorrow, there's more work on the Fight Card novel plus I have a pitch to write this week and I got edits on my story for The Spider vol. 3 for Moonstone that I need to take care of as well. Tomorrow night we're talking Buck Rogers on the Earth Station One podcast and then reviewing the latest episode of Doctor Who on Tuesday for Earth Station Who. Looks like this is going to be a busy week, but also a good one.

I love my job.
Not cover, but a cool illo.

Well, it's getting late though so I'm calling it a night.

We'll talk more tomorrow.
