THE WRAP UP-- LOCAL COMIC SHOP DAY!

I had a great time at Dr. No's Comics and Games Superstore in Marietta, GA today for a book signing with my buddy, James Tuck to celebrate Local Comic Shop Day! Thanks to those who braved the rain to join us and to Cliff Biggers for hosting us.

It was fun.

Sorry. No photos because we were chatting quite a bit.

MAMA TRIED TO GET 5 STARS! SHE SUCCEEDED!

Big outlaw thanks to Paul R. McNamee for leaving a great 5 STAR review for the MAMA TRIED crime anthology published by Down and Out Books. Much appreciated. Read the full review at HERE.

MAMA TRIED is a strong and inspired crime fiction anthology with variety
Joe Lansdale prefaced one of his most famous horror stories with a note that is was "a story that does not flinch."

Although Lansdale is not in this anthology, I think that concept and spirit permeate this anthology. These stories do not flinch. They dig into criminal worlds, telling taut stories that kept me engaged throughout.

As you can see from the cover, each story here is inspired by a classic "outlaw country" song - whether by title alone or riffing on the lyrics as well. The tales run the gamut from law enforcement point-of-view to criminal p.o.v. Criminals within criminals, good cops who might use questionable methods, meth biker gangs, alpaca farms, dog fights, booze running, war veterans, jobs and drug deals gone wrong, lovers who are no good for one another - they're all here. One of the anthology's strongest points is its variety.

These nineteen tales of inspired outlawry are well worth the read, especially if you enjoy crime fiction and/or outlaw country.

I had a great time working on this one.

BOBBY NASH INTERVIEWED BY AUTHOR LISA HASELTON

I was interviewed by author Lisa Haselton for her reviews and interviews site last year. It got a little lost in the shuffle, but has now gone live. It's all still good information, except for the what are you working on now question. That's a bit out of date. We talk about writing short stories and novels. Thanks, Lisa. You can read the full interview HERE.

Interview with short story writer (and novelist) Bobby Nash
Today’s interview is with short story writer Bobby Nash. We’re chatting about his crime fiction within the anthology MAMA TRIED: Crime Fiction Inspired by Outlaw Country Music.

COMING AUGUST 2016 - MAMA TRIED - CRIME FICTION INSPIRED BY OUTLAW COUNTRY MUSIC!

Down and Out Books has released a press release for the upcoming Mama Tried crime anthology that includes a story by me. The title of each story in this collection comes from an outlaw country music song. My story is called "Ain't Living Long Like This" a song by Waylon Jennings. You can hear it here. Only the title comes from the song. The story itself is original. My story introduces private investigator, Jamie Southern as she takes on a blackmail case that leads to murder.

I'm honored to share this book with some extremely talented authors and it was fun to work with my friend, James Tuck for the first time. This one is sure to be a good read.

Mama Tried will be released on Monday, August 15, 2016.

Meet the Editor: Born and raised in Georgia, James R. Tuck grew up drawing and reading from a wee lad. A steady helping of Robert E. Howard stories, Golden Age comics, and books he was far too young to have been reading combined with a very Southern involvement in church and watching horror movies became the bedrock of his creativity. He grew up, became a tattoo artist, and is now a writer of dark fantasy and, as Levi Black, crime fiction. He co-hosts the "Fanboy and Geek Girl Power Hour" podcast with his wife. Visit his website at JamesRTuck.com.

Down and Out Books, an indie-publisher based in Tampa, FL, has been serving up the best crime fiction since 2011.
