AMAZON REVIEWER GIVES THE PEREGRINE VOL. 3 FIVE STARS!

Big Thanks to Funtony47 for his 5 Star Amazon Review of The Peregrine Omnibus Vol. 3 from Pro Se Productions. Many thanks, Tony. We're glad you enjoyed it. The Peregrine Omnibus Vol. 3 features a story by me called "Where there's smoke..." You can see it below or read the full review here.

This 3rd volume of tales of the Peregrine is different. Here we get many different authors giving their take on the character. I actually loved this as it brought different insight into the character as other authors explored him. The different styles was interesting as well and gave me a chance to see new authors. It is alo worth noting that so many authors felt the desire to pay homage to this character of new pulp and helps cement Reese's star firmly into the constellation of new pulp's history !

Thanks again for taking the time to leave a review. Reviews are always appreciated.

THE PEREGRINE OMNIBUS VOLUME 3 NOW AVAILABLE!

New book released featuring a story by me. The Peregrine Omnibus Vol. 3 features my story, "Where there's Smoke..." which was originally printed in Tales of The Rook Vol. 1. Since then, the character's name has been changed and the stories re-released under the character's new name, The Peregrine.

Tales of the Rook is no longer available on-line. Booksellers and contributors may still have copies for sale. I have 3 copies I take to conventions if anyone wants one while they last.

BLOOD AND INK: 25 NEW PULP BOOKS TO GET YOU STARTED [GUESS WHAT BOOKS MADE THE LIST!]

Over on his blog, author Derrick Ferguson, along with Lucas Garrett, Barry Reese, and Andrew Salmon, compiled a list of good intro books to the world of New Pulp. I won’t get into the whole “what is pulp/New Pulp?” discussion here because it has been discussed ad infinitum and no one is closer to agreeing than when it all began.

This is a nice list the guys put together. I'm honored to have my work listed there twice, even though I wouldn't classify Evil Ways as pulp. The Ruby Files, on the other hand, definitely qualifies.

I know there are those who disagree with me on Evil Ways and I get where they are coming from. I certainly don’t mind it being called Pulp or New Pulp. It’s just not how I think of it. Then again, my writing style is pretty consistent across my various projects so I can see where they’re coming
from. Regardless, I’m honored to have made the list.

You can read the full list of the 25 New Pulp Books To Get You Started here.

Learn more about Evil Ways here.

BOBBY NASH AND BARRY REESE TALK WRITING FOR SERIES ON THE EXPLODING TYPEWRITER

Barry Reese and I joined Perry Constantine's Exploding Typewriter podcast for a fun chat about writing for a series.

The Exploding Typewriter
Episode 010: Writing Series

To celebrate the first double-digit episode, we have doubled the guests! This time, Perry is joined once more by returning guest Barry Reese as well as a man who is new to the show, Bobby Nash! Both guests and our host have experience in writing series and that is what they’ve come together to discuss in this episode: how series have influenced pulps in the past, how they are a very, very big part of self-publishing and the key to the success enjoyed by many indie authors, and they discuss what attracts all three of them to this style of writing. They also talk about some of the benefits of writing series, plus some of the pitfalls that you may face.

Find out more about Barry Reese by visiting BarryReese.net and visit Bobby Nash over at BobbyNash.com.

You can listen to the full episode here.

WHAT I WROTE IN 2012!

Pulling together an eligibility list for the 2013 Pulp Ark Awards got me wondering just what work of mine was published in 2012. So I made a list of books published in 2012 featuring my work.

Typed up like this it doesn’t look like all that much. The biggest shock to me was that I had no new comic book work appear in 2012. I worked on some comic scripts, but as yet they have not reached publication stage.

Anyway, it’s an interesting list.

NOVEL

Evil Ways (BEN Books)

Earthstrike Agenda (BEN Books)

NOVELLA

Samaritan (BEN Books)

SHORT STORY/ANTHOLOGY

“The One That Got Away”
Nightbeat: Night Stories (Radio Archives)

“Mountain Men of the Lost Valley”
Secret Agent X Vol. 4 (Airship 27 Productions)

“The Gauntlet”
Green Hornet Still at Large (Moonstone Books)

“Lights! Camera! Sabotage!”
The New Adventures of The Eagle! (Pro Se Productions)

“Where There’s Smoke...”
Tales of The Rook Vol. 1 (Pro Se Productions)

“The Case of The Wayward Brother”
The Ruby Files Vol. 1 (Airship 27 Productions)

“Moon Girl: Blood Moon”
Golden Age Good Girls (Mini Komix)

And, as I’m not one to let a huckstering opportunity pass me by, please feel free to check out any of these books in the tabs above. All are still available for purchase.

TALES OF THE ROOK SNEAK PEEK

Over on his blog, [http://barryreese.net/] Barry Reese posted a rough sketch by artist George Sellas of the image from Bobby’s story, “Where there’s Smoke...” for the upcoming Tales of the Rook anthology from Pro Se Productions Reese Unlimited imprint.

In "Where There’s Smoke..." In Atlanta, GA, a fire bug who is burning down buildings whose owners dared to oppose the arsonist’s employer. The Rook intervenes and finds himself in a fiery deathtrap.

Here’s that sneak peek at the sketch.
Sketch: George Sellas

From Barry’s blog:
Attached you’ll find a rough sketch by George Sellas depicting a scene from Bobby Nash’s Tales of the Rook story. Let this whet your appetite — and keep in mind that it’s only a rough sketch so while it’s awesome as-is, George is really knocking the ball out of the park on the finished stuff. I’m thrilled to have George on the project — his artwork is going to make the incredible stories by Fortier, Hancock, Bullock, Constantine and Nash even better!

Writing Round Up (or What I Did At Work Today)

I had a pretty good writing day today, if I do say so myself. There is still a lot to get done in January and I'm a long way from the finish line, but I did put a dent in a project today. I just have to finish the last little bit and polish my Rook story and send it off to the editor tomorrow. After that its back to work on Lance Star: Sky Ranger Vol. 4 and a story featuring a certain pulp Master of Men.

Good times.

Bobby

I write the words...

Art: Chris Hamer
Had a pretty good writing day. Finished up a short story featuring the guy in the attached artwork for Chris Hamer over at Urbnpop. I also made a nice dent in my story for the upcoming Tales of The Rook for Pro Se Productions' Reese Unlimited imprint. If all goes well I should finish that story in a day or two.

More writing tomorrow, but now it's time to get some shuteye.

Sweet dreams.

When the muse speaks...

It’s amazing how my brain works sometimes. As soon as my head hit the pillow early this morning (around 3:40 a.m.), story ideas started flowing. So I got up and wrote some more. I love it when the muse kicks in. I just wish it didn’t happen so often when I lay me down to sleep. :)

This particular plot is for the upcoming Tales of The Rook for Reese Unlimited and Pro Se Productions. My story features The Rook taking on an arsonist firebombing buildings in Atlanta, GA.
