Another 48 Hours!

Sorry. No Eddie Murphy or Nick Nolte this time. Just a reminder about a Kickstarter that features some of my work.

There's a little less than 48 hours left to participate in the Book of Dark Secrets Kickstarter for HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN FANTASY RPG ADVENTURES AND SELL THEM. James Ward, Lenard Lakofka, Johnn Four and many more share some of their pro tips on how to create your first fantasy RPG adventure!

This book contains a new, original short story introducing a new character by me along with an interview/article on what it takes to create a hero.

Take a look HERE and support if you can.

Thanks for your support..

INDIE COMIC CARDS ARE COMING TO KICKSTARTER!

I am honored to be part of the upcoming Indie Comic Cards set. Lance Star: Sky Ranger has been chosen to be part of this historic new collectible card set and I am thrilled to be part of it. If you are interested, please support the Indie Comic Cards Kickstarter when it goes live March 26th.

About Indie Comic Cards:
Calling all Comic book fans! The time has come to celebrate the historic indie comic movement taking place in the industry! Some of the world's most creative minds are creating innovative, no holds barred comics,
featuring worlds filled with amazing characters. Some of the characters are good guys that possess the strength, wisdom, ability, and integrity to fight along the ranks of the Avengers or Justice League. Some of these characters are downright evil and strike enough terror to make Dr. Doom and Lex Luther cringe in fear.

LET'S CELEBRATE THESE CHARACTERS AND THE BRILLIANT MINDS WHO CREATED THEM!!!

Indie Comic Cards is creating an amazing collectible trading card set featuring these characters and the creators who made them. The set will be 100+ sequentially numbered cards and each card will be highly detailed, front and back full color glossy. The front of the card will display the characters name, a picture of the character and the logo of the comic book series he, she or it is featured in. The back of the card will include a paragraph about the character, the name and picture of the creator, the artist and colorist who worked on the character and the website address where fans can buy the comic. One of these cards will feature Lance Star: Sky Ranger in action.

Sounds great, right?

The Kickstarter Campaign will launch on March 26th!

SOMETIMES I GET ASKED STUFF… PART 36!

We’re back for a 36th installment of Sometimes I Get Asked Stuff… another jam-packed edition. In addition to questions from fans and readers, I've also pulled questions from writing groups/blogs/facebook as well. Thanks for all of the amazing questions. Please, keep ‘em coming. I absolutely love answering them. Yes, even the silly ones from time to time.

You can check out all of the past installments of Sometimes I Get Asked Stuff... here.

Okay, let's dive in, shall we? The first one is a doozy.

Q: Why don't you do/use a Kickstarter for your next project?

I get this question, or some varying degree of it, often. I’ve avoided answering it because I really don’t know how to put my thoughts into words on this topic. Just a couple of days ago, a friend and I had a similar discussion. He told me that I have a bias toward Kickstarter. Maybe he’s right.

First off, let me say that I think Kickstarter is a wonderful tool. There have been some great projects come out of it and I begrudge no one for using it and I've even backed one or two projects myself.

So why don’t I use it, you ask?

MATTER DEEP PUBLISHING LAUNCHES THE INDIE GUIDE TO INDIE PUBLISHING KICKSTARTER

Matter Deep Publishing is launching The Indie Guide to Indie Publishing. I am excited to be a part of this with some incredibly creative people and we would love to have you join us in this exciting new project. Check it out at Kickstarter and pledge to make it a reality.

A step-by-step guide to indie publishing from people who have been there and done that.

Help eight experienced independent authors (and one designer!) publish a how-to guide for aspiring self-publishers.

Why would I want this book?

The Indie Guide to Indie Publishing is a start-to-finish guide designed to help independent authors navigate the world of self-publishing. Each of the nine authors involved has their own areas of specialized expertise in independent publishing that they want to share with writers and artists with all different levels of publishing experience.

Did you say experience?

The authors involved in this project have done years of research and production, often times patching together their knowledge from scattered sources and learning from epic mistakes. We've already combed through the books and websites, filtered out the snake oil salesmen, and done the trial and error ourselves. Our experiences can streamline the process for you and serve as a guide along the way.

So is this just for newbies or can experienced authors use it?

Whether you're a complete newbie or just an author looking for a little expert advice, this book can help you. How does Bobby Nash get invited to so many cons? Where can you find a reasonable, talented cover artist? What did Blake Northcott do to get an endorsement from Mark Millar himself? These are just some of the questions we'll address in The Indie Guide to Indie Publishing.

Involved with the project are Blake Northcott, Kiri Callaghan, Bobby Nash, Dave Wheeler, Carly Strickland, JL Bryan, Kyle Strickland, Teal Haviland, and Amy Leigh Strickland are launching the Indie Guide to Indie Publishing on Kickstarter. Back us for sweet rewards!

Learn more here.

I an excited to be part of this project and look forward to spreading the word about it. This is our second fundraising attempt as the first one fell just a bit short. To all those interested in pledging, you have my eternal gratitude.

INDIE GUIDE TO INDIE PUBLISHING-- NEW REWARD TIERS ANNOUNCED

Some new reward tiers have been added to the Indie Guide to Indie Publishing from Matter Deep Publishing as donated by the incredibly talented creative team behind this exciting new project. Check it out at Kickstarter and pledge to make it a reality. New tier information posted here.

A step-by-step guide to indie publishing from people who have been there and done that.

The Indie Guide to Indie Publishing is a tool, a step-by-step guide to publishing your independent book. Each article is written by an experienced authority from the independent world, and the book includes an index and glossary to help aspiring authors and publishers along the way.

In a way, it seems like the perfect project for the Kickstarter spirit. Kickstarter is about putting control into the hands of the consumer. You fund the projects you want to see made. Independent publishing follows that same ideal. Indie publishing puts the power of content creation in your hands. The Indie Guide to Indie Publishing cannot prescribe commercial success, but it can make the ins-and-outs of formatting, distribution, and marketing less of a mystery.

Learn more about the Indie Guide to Indie Publishing here.

Thanks again.

LAUNCH THE INDIE GUIDE TO INDIE PUBLISHING KICKSTARTER UPDATE

The Indie Guide to Indie Publishing is number 3 on the popular projects publishing list on Kickstarter! We've crested 10%, but we still have a long way to go, and if we don't make $8, we don't get a penny of it. If you know anyone who has ever talked about publishing a book, be it a novel, a comic, a collection of poetry, or a series of paintings, please send them along. Or share it on your twitter and see who surprises you.

Here's the link again: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/matterdeep/the-indie-guide-to-indie-publishing
