FINAL COVER REVEAL!

The final cover and Table of Contents have been released for THE MAN WHO LAUGHS: Exploring the Clown Prince of Crime this April from Crazy 8 Press. Keep watching this space for more.

I am so thrilled to be part of this amazing book.

THE MAN WHO LAUGHS: Exploring the Clown Prince of Crime is coming to you this April from Crazy 8 Press. This examination of DC's Joker is bookended with a foreword by Bob Rozakis and an afterword by Steve Englehart. This new essay collection is edited by Lou Tambone & Rich Handley and looks at the long and impressive history of Batman’s arch-nemesis, the Joker, in both comic books and in screen adaptations. Check out the full table of contents by an impressive set of scribes (and I'm in there too). Art and layout by David Pipgras.

• Introduction: “Let’s Get Nuts” by Rich Handley and Lou Tambone
• Foreword: “Who is the Joker?: A Question from the Answer Man” by Bob Rozakis
• “Text Messages of the Dark Knight” by Tom Mason
• “The Banter and the Bat” by Michael Jan Friedman
• “My, What Big Teeth You Have!” by Bobby Nash
• “Delicious!: The Joker as Latin Loverboy” by Jim Beard
• “One Card Short: Missing the Joke(r)” by Brian Cronin
• “Something Tastes Funny–That’d Be the Clownfish” by Duy Tano

• “Joker: Stop Punching Down” by Jo Duffy
• “The Joke Book: Laughing Along with the Joker’s 1970s Solo Series” by Lou Tambone
• “The Joke’s on the Audience” by Robert Greenberger
• “One Hell of a Joke: From Laughing Magician to the Man Who Laughs” by Rich Handley
• “Empathy for Emperor Joker” by Paul Cornish
• “Don’t Get Even, Go Mad: Joker and the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Days” by Joseph F. Berenato
• “Why Do We Care that the Joker Hates Nazis?” by Alex Galer
• “Toward a Short Comparison and Contrast of the Joker with Trickster Characters of African Folklore” by LaMar Forte
• “Whatever Joker Wants, Joker Goetz” by Keith R.A. DeCandido
• “Fixing the Laughter: Voice Casting the Joker on Batman: The Animated Series” by John Trumbull

• “Mountebank to Monster: The Bloody Road from ‘The Joker’s Five-Way Revenge’ to The Killing Joke” by Paul Kupperberg

My essay looks at the variations of Joker art in comics over the decades and why those big teeth are so important to the character's make up.

THE 2022 WRITING WRAP UP!

Calvin and I are kindred spirits.

Looking at the ol' 2022 Writing To Do list. It was a really busy writing year, but even I was a bit surprised. These are finished projects. Stories started and not yet complete aren't counted. #Focus remains my plan for 2023.

My 2022 writing output:
Short stories: 13
Novels/Novellas: 5
Comics: 18
TOTAL: 36

No wonder I'm tired. :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Monday...

After taking the day off yesterday, I had a pretty good day in the writing office today. I put the final polish on one story & added words to another. Still a few things to finish up before the end of the year. This has been one of the busiest writing years I've had in a while. That's always nice.
