THE WRAP UP-- THE SOUTHERN PEN WRITER'S CONFERENCE!

My panel/bio in the program book
On Saturday, May 18th, I was a guest at The Southern Pen Writers Conference in Monroe, GA. This was the first year for this event and I think it went amazingly well. Big thanks to Vickie Bley and her team, the authors, the presenters, the volunteers, and the attendees for making this event so special. I hope there will be a second one.

There were two keynote addresses during the event, one from author Ed Grisamore called "The Wonderful Life of a Writer" and the other from author and judge, Lori Duff called "The Legal Side of Writing" which she made quite fun.

There were a total of thirteen workshops/presentations to attend. I taught one at 10:00 am called "You've Written Something. Now
At book signing event
What?" which was well attended and fun. The audience was quick to participate and had some interesting questions. They also fed us, which is always a nice bonus. All three of the events I did last week fed us. All other events should take note. Ha. Ha.

If you are a writer, published author, or want to be a writer, I think you can learn a lot of wonderful information at writers conferences. Hopefully, The Southern Pen Writers Conference will return.

Would you like to break the "starving writer" mentality? Does One Size Fit All when it comes to editors? Who really needs character? Is your story clogged in the middle and need help? Then the Southern Pen Bookshop's Writers Conference is the place for you to find answers to these questions and more.

Bobby's presentation will be at 10 am.
"You've written something. Now what?" This presentation discusses the avenues open to authors from traditional, indie, self, and hybrid publishing. Learn what to expect from each type of publishing options and what is expected of the author as well. Please, bring your questions.

  1. I'm not sure, Alan. I wouldn't be surprised, but I don't know.
