DOMINO LADY MERCHANDISE NOW AVAILABLE FROM ARTIST UWE JARLING!

Art: Uwe Jarling

NOT AN APRIL FOOL'S GAG!

After some recent posts, I've been asked about the Domino Lady image on my convention banner. This image was painted by Uwe Jarling for the Domino Lady: Sex As A Weapon anthology released a few years back from Moonstone Books. Uwe has made prints, T-Shirts, shower curtains, mugs, pillows, beach towels, phone cases, and more available for purchase with this image on it.

If you would like to learn more, check out Uwe's Art Shop and help support Uwe's art.

THE WRAP UP-- SC COMICON 2018!

Bobby with Gotham's Maggie Geha
and ESO podcast's Mike Faber.
Sorry for the delay in getting this one posted. It's been a hectic week.

Last weekend (March 24 - 25th), I was a guest at SC Comicon in Greenville, SC. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite cons of the year. This was the 5th year and it was another great one. I was set up in Artist Alley at table #522. There were great crowds all weekend and I even managed to sell a book or two. Always a nice bonus. Another nice bonus was getting to meet, briefly as we passed each other in the green room, Carey Elwes and Adrian Paul.

I wasn't at my best, physically. A minor accident had knocked my hip and back out of alignment. Painful, but easily corrected by a
Robert and Michele Young
our most gracious hosts.
visit to the chiropractor. The unwanted side effect was a flare up of Sciatica, which runs the length of your right leg from your butt to your foot. Not excruciatingly painful, but a constant pain that kept me off my feet most of the weekend so I didn't get to walk around or shop as much as I would have wanted. Apologies to those I did not get a chance to see.

As always, Robert and Michele Young and their staff did a bang up job taking care of us and putting on a wonderful event. There was also a reception at the Alex Ross museum exhibit. I had seen it before, but it was worth a return visit. If you're in Greenville, SC between now and June 3rd, I highly recommend it.

On Sunday, I filled in for the ailing Mike Gordon, who was unable to make the con due to being ill, moderating the Meggie Geha panel with
Sanford Greene's
convention book
cover art.
Mike Faber. Mike and Mike are the hosts of the Earth Station One podcast and great guys. You should give their show a listen. Maggie portrayed the second iteration on Poison Ivy on FOX's Gotham and she was a great guest and had a lot of cool stories. I believe Mike is planning to release the recording of it on ESO's Patreon Page.

To those who came out, stopped by the table or the panel, bought something, or just said hi, I appreciate it and I hope you had a great con.

Let's do it again next year.

SC Comicon 2019 dates are March 9th - 10th.

BOOKS, ART, AND CLEAVAGE! JUST ANOTHER SATURDAY IN WRITER LAND!

Not sure how the Post Office feels about them, but I have a lot of fun doing these "do not bend" sketch reminders on packages I ship. These two, done this morning, features everyone's favorite wall-crawler, Spider-Man and everyone's favorite man with a Bad Attitude, Mr. T as B.A. Barracus of The A-Team.

FYI, if you're interested in one of your very own, I do sell autographed books direct to readers. I also do art commissions. Just hit me up if you're interested.

Also, apparently today is International Cleavage day. Who knew? Have you met Domino Lady?
The above image painted by Uwe Jarling.

My cleavage, I keep hidden. You're welcome.

Happy Saturday!

HUNTSVILLE COMIC CONVENTION CANCELLATION!

Due to an unforeseen financial hiccup, I have had to cancel my appearance at the Huntsville Comic Convention in Huntsville, Alabama this weekend. Sincere apologies to those who were expecting to see me there.. I look forward to seeing everyone's photos from the con. Nathan, Wes, and Marc put on one helluva show. You definitely should check it out. There are several great writer and artist guests on hand as well as the savior of the universe, Flash Gordon himself, Mr. Sam Jones. There's even a Flash Gordon screening on Thursday with Sam that'll be big fun.

Stay tuned.

THE WRAP UP-- SATURDAY'S ATHENS-CLARKE COUNTY LIBRARY'S INDIE AUTHOR DAY AND SUNDAY'S ATLANTA COMIC CONVENTION! BUSY WEEKEND!

This was a busy weekend for this road weary author, but I had an absolutely amazing at two wonderful events, one of Saturday, March 17th and one on Sunday, March 18th. I'm thankful I was able to make it out to these events. On the Friday before the events, I threw out my back and hip, which caused a fun sciatica flareup that kept me pretty well immobilized that day and unable to walk easily. Thankfully, I was feeling better on Saturday so I was able to attend. I was moving slow, but I was moving.

Saturday's event was the Athens-Clarke County Library's Indie Author Day in Athens, GA. The event ran from noon until 5 p.m. I arrived around 11 a.m. to set up and look around the library as it was my first time visiting this particular branch. Panels ran from 12 - 2 with book selling and meeting the authors from 2 - 5. I met several authors and reconnected with some friends I haven't seen in a while. It turned out to be a great networking weekend as well with some future opportunities coming out of it. Never a bad thing when that happens.

A Big Thank You to Ashley Shull for being a gracious host and panel moderator. I had a great time and hope to be back next year.

Schedule:
My best Carnac impression
12-1 PM My Self-Publishing Journey: a panel discussion with self-published authors (I was on this panel and it was a lot of fun. I'd like to thank my co-panelists Mokah Johnson, Katherine Cerulean, and Eric whose last name I can't recall, sorry, for such a great conversation.)
1-2 PM How to Market your Self or Indie Published Book: a discussion with Bob Babcock of Deeds Publishing (I enjoyed talking marketing with Bob and Pam. I picked up a few ideas to try.)
2-4 PM Indie Author Marketplace: meet and mingle with indie and self-published authors as well as purchase their titles!
4-5 PM Reception/Clean-up

I capped off Saturday by having dinner with my friends, Jeff and Berni. It's always great hanging out with them. Berni and I are co-writing a novel together so it was fun to catch up on that as well. All in all, a fun day, but boy was I tired and sore when I got home.

On Sunday, I was a guest at the Atlanta Comic Convention Atlanta, GA. This is a 1 day comic book show that happens 4 times a year. I've been attending since the early days, which is like 26 years or so. WOW, that makes me feel old. ACC (for those of us too lazy to continually type out Atlanta Comic Convention) runs from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., although it starts slowing down around 4 p.m. for some reason.

ACC is a shopping show with a few guests and is always a fun time. I enjoy hanging out with local creators, finding great deals, and just relaxing and talking. It doesn't get much better than that. There is usually one main guest at the show and this time it was my friend, Drew Geraci. Drew is an artist who inked many of your favorite characters including Batman, the Birds of Prey, Guardians of the Galaxy, and more. He's also written a couple of novels featuring a rock band who runs afoul of the Russian mob called The Demands. A fun read.

My table at ACC.
It's always great seeing friends at the con. Way too many to mention here (and I fear I would inadvertently leave someone off the list by mistake), but it was great hanging out and talking with you all. Capped off the day hanging out with my buddy, Ben Eller and then dinner with Drew. It was a fun day talking comics. As with Saturday, I was tired and sore when I got home, but I had a great day. I even managed to ell a couple of books, which is always a nice bonus. Big Thanks, as always to Wes and Dave Tillander for taking such good care of me.

The next ACC is July 8th. I hope to see you there.

CREATING ADS AND TAKING NAMES! NO REST FOR THE WEARY WRITER!

In the office.
Today, I ran some errands so now I'm settling in to work. Lots to do. Tax docs pulled together, shave, tackling correspondence from the weekend, setting up a plan to sell ebooks at the cons, writing and posting wrap ups for my two events over the weekend, do laundry, and there was something else... what was it again? Oh, yeah. I need to write some stuff too. #writerproblems right? Or,as my buddy, Mike likes to say, #prolificproblems  #amwriting

I'm working on some marketing ideas. The Bobby's Big Box O' Books promotion worked pretty well around the holidays so I thought I would try it again. I finally settled on promoting the titles as Beach Reads as Spring Break is upon us. I like the idea, although, ideally, I should have started promoting it before spring break. It's all about timing. I'm already looking ahead for future marketing ideas and promotions to push the books.

I'd love to hear from you. What marketing ideas work for you or on you? Do sales and promotional deals make you want to read an unfamiliar author?

Marketing and promotion is such a heavy part of the writing job that no one told me about beforehand. I spend almost as much time trying to sell books as I do writing them. :)

Here's the copy that goes with the image above for the new promotion campaign:
Looking for the perfect beach read for Spring Break? Look no further than BOBBY'S BIG BOX O' BEACH BOOKS! For a measly $50 (plus $5 shipping and handling), you get 7 autographed paperbacks (normally a $72 value on its own), a signed Starship Farragut DVD, and a custom piece of art by Bobby Nash. What a great deal for only $50! ( plus $5 shipping and handling domestic - international shipping unfortunately costs more). GET YOURS BEFORE YOU HEAD TO THE BEACH! http://bobby-nash-news.blogspot.com/p/book-bundle-sale.html

What do you think?

THINGS THAT MAKE ME SCRATCH MY HEAD!

Really? $1,000 for a novel you can buy for $12?

It's things like this that make me scratch my head. I ran across this on a site called Thrift Books. One of the novels I wrote, Alexandra Holzer's Ghost Gal: The Wild Hunt is being offered at $1,000.00. Now, granted, I know the book is unavailable at the moment, (Alex and I are working on it and hope to have a plan in place soon to rectify the situation), but come on! $1,000?

I have been selling copies at cons for $12.00. I have one left. Anyone want to offer $500? HA! HA! No, really. Only $12.00. I'll even sign it for free. :)

THE WRAP UP-- TRI-CITIES TOY AND HOBBY SHOW!

Bobby with Michael Stevens.
I was a guest at the Tri-Cities Toy and Hobby Show on Saturday, March 10th in Gray, Tennessee, a suburb just past Johnson City, where I spent the night. In addition to selling books, as I usually do at events like this, I offered to do $10 sketches with the money from each going to the convention's charity of choice for the weekend, Coalition 4 Kids. I only had one taker, but I am proud to announce that the convention raised $3,555 for Coalition 4 Kids.

A Big Thank You to Michael Stevens for hosting an amazing event and taking good care of me. Also, many thank you very muches to everyone who came out and supported the charity, bought some cool stuff, and generally had a great time. To those who stopped by my table to say hello and check out my books, you all rock. Thanks.

SCRATCH THAT ONE OFF THE BUCKET LIST!

Last night, I turned in the final manuscript for a super-hero novel last night featuring AC Comics' Nightveil for Pro Se Productions. There's still some edits to do, but the plan is for a May release. I'll post more information when I have it.

Nightveil is one of those bucket list characters. I fell in love with the character in the late 80's when I picked up a run of the AC Comics title. Since then, I've made a few attempts to submit Nightveil stories that didn't pass muster. Getting to write her now is something of a dream come true. I just hope I do the character justice.

The above is not the actual cover. Just a placeholder I put together for my website. I'm glad to finally be finished with this novel. It was the novel I was neck deep into when my Mom passed and the work stopped cold. I had trouble

getting back to work after that because my heart simply wasn't in it. Thankfully, with a little prodding from the publisher and a deadline, I was able to do some of the best writing this past week I've done in a long time.

Now, the trick is to keep that momentum going. I started back on Snow Trapped last night and am also working on it today. My backlog of deadlines is still pretty large, but with some long days and a little luck, I can hopefully get caught up soon.

More to come.
