THE WRAP UP-- HALLOWCON 2017!

I had a fun weekend at HallowCon in East Ridge, Tennessee this weekend. My voice is still less than ideal so apologies to those who saw me for not being as talkative as I normally like to be. Big thanks to Joe for inviting me. He and his crew took great care of us and kept us fed.

The Starship Farragut screening on Saturday was well attended and several DVDs found their way to good homes. The No SH#!  This just happened! panel was a wild time. None of had any idea what the topic was truly about so we winged it. There were a lot of laughs.

Starship Farragut screening
It was also great hanging with the other guests and attendees, including Jeremy Hicks, Kindra Sowder, D.A. Adams, Santiago Cirillo, Stephanie Osborn, KT Hunter, Tamara Lowry, and J.L. Mulvihill, who also celebrated her 28th wedding anniversary that same weekend and the con and her husband had a nice surprise for her. I'm sure there are others I am forgetting. No slight intended. My sickly brain, still recovering from allergies, simply doesn't remember.

I hope you all had a wonderful con.

FIGHTCARD: BAREFOOT BONES KO'D BY 5 STAR REVIEW!

A BIG THANK YOU to author Darrell Grizzle for his kind words and amazing 5 STAR Amazon review of my Fightcard: Barefoot Bones novella. It is greatly appreciated, sir. This title is still available in paperback and ebook.

"Barefoot Bones is a wartime boxing story, set during the Korean War, about a scrappy young soldier and boxer who picked up the nickname Barefoot Bones while growing up poor in the North Georgia mountains. This is a fast-paced action story that is also a coming-of-age story as we learn about Bones’ past. In the tradition of the pulp paperbacks of the 1950’s, Barefoot Bones is a highly entertaining novella by a master of modern pulp fiction, Bobby Nash (writing as Jack Tunney)."

Click for a larger view. Wraparound paperback cover.
Thanks again, Darrell. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I had great fun working with Paul and Mel at Fightcard Books. They put out a fine collection of fight fiction. I had intended to write a second Fightcard novella, but time and deadlines got the better of me, as they so often do. Eventually, the Fightcard line ended, but there are well over 20 novellas out there for your enjoyment by some amazingly talented writers working under the Jack Tunney house name. You should check them out.

You can also read this old blog post where I share my thoughts on crafting Fight Card: Barefoot Bones and see what it was like strapping on Jack Tunney’s gloves. You can find that here.

By the way, "a master of modern pulp fiction, Bobby Nash" is totally going on my resume. HA! HA!

A NEW PROJECT BEGINS...

Ste One: plot/character notes.
My friend Bernadette Johnson (Lance Star: Sky Ranger, Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, How Stuff works) and I are writing a book together and we had our first plot/character discussion yesterday. Made some good progress and I'm looking forward to working with her to bring this project to life. It'll be fun. Sorry for the pixelated, blurry photo, but we aren't ready to share details just yet.

This one probably won't see daylight until late 2018 or, if our original plan works the way we hope, probably 2019.

Stay tuned for more details as we can share them.

PLAYING CATCH UP!

I had a really productive day yesterday. I spent most of Thursday catching up on past due obligations, including art for my extremely patient patrons who won the Patreon free monthly giveaway like this Thing piece for John Kilgallon, Rick Ruby for Robert McIntyre, Beaker piece for John Nacinovich, who had me draw it for his wife, Patricia. Of course, you can't have Beaker without his partner in science, Dr. Bunson Honeydew.

I also drew my arch nemesis, the mighty Q Cumbersome for my pal J.R. Mounts' next Fried Pickle Noir book. Will scan and add text in the morning. I figured it was past time I drew that darn pickled p.i.

Thanks again for your patience and I apologize again for the delays.

Okay, back to work.

MIRROR, MIRROR, ON THE WALL...

50 years ago, yesterday, on October 6, 1967, Star Trek "Mirror Mirror" premiered. This episode created one of pop culture's most enduring tropes that is still used today: goatee = evil twin. Thank you, Mr. Spock.

As a goatee'd gent myself, does this mean I'm my own evil twin?

Hmm....

New podcast interview with me and author Jim Hodgson is live. Give a listen to PODCAST! Bobby Nash and the Misadventures of Dick the Dog HERE.

From the website:
BOBBY NASH AND THE MISADVENTURES OF DICK THE DOG
Bobby Nash is an award-winning writer from the wilds of Georgia and I can tell you, having been around him in person, he’s every bit as much fun in person as he is on this episode.

I had some technical problems with recording this one, plus some brain problems telling Bobby when exactly it would air, but Mr. Nash himself had not one iota of problems outlining a story from scratch.

Also! Stop by Amazon and check out my book Santa vs. Krampus. Now in audio format for your ear holes!

Thanks for listening!
