THE WRAP UP-- NEWTCON 2016!

My table at Newtcon.
On Saturday, October 1st, I was a guest at the first Newtcon convention in Covington, GA. Held at the Georgia Piedmont Technical College, this 4 hour event was a fun time. The focus of the convention was on advocating literacy awareness so there were local creators on hand as well as libraries and other organizations. I'd like to thank Carol Dial for the invite. She and her team did a good job getting things going. Hopefully, they will be able to do it again next year.

I was on two panels at Newtcon.

Writing 101 was my solo panel where I talked about writing and took questions from the audience about writing for novels and comic books as well as marketing and other aspects of being a professional writer. It was a fun panel.

So You want To Create Comic Books? was my second panel of the day. I shared the stage with my pals Randyl Bishop and Michael Gordon as we answered questions about creating comics. A good panel.

About Newtcon: NewtCon is a family-friendly comic book, sci-fi, crafting, and fun festival presented by Georgia Piedmont Technical College. It's a way for GPTC to help enhance literacy in the community and provide exposure to the college as a whole in a fun, relaxed environment. The GPTC Learning Resource Center is sponsoring the event with committee involvement from the Newton County Public Library and local businesses that include comic shops and gaming stores from the Rockdale, Newton, and surrounding counties in Atlanta and Athens.

This was a fun event. I had a great time.

My NewtCon panel table and sign. The audience for Writing 101
outnumbered me so that was a nice plus. They had great questions.

The Rockdale City Library had events and crafts for the kids.

The library where I had my Newtcon Writing 101
panel has a graphic novel shelf. Very cool.

Thanks Bobby for all your comments about NewtCon. We are glad that you enjoyed it and were able to come & talk about your craft of writing & answer specific questions about publishing a novel. I had a lot of interest before you all came from folks in the community that were writing and didn’t know how to go about getting published, so I think you all did a great job helping those aspiring authors.
